I maintain he's not had an opportunity yet when we've had a side that's actually been providing decent service, with a decent partner and competing on an even vaguely level playing field.Hoop Blah wrote:Even when we've been playing 2 upfront Le Fondre has failed to make one of those positions his own.
It's a chicken and egg situation for me. A forwards movement and ability to make the most of the possession he gets contributes a lot to the service they get. Similarily a good forward, especially one adept at playing up front on their own like Forster and (for that exceptional six months once he'd learnt how to play it at least) Long, makes bad balls look good and turns poor service into good.Ian Royal wrote:I maintain he's not had an opportunity yet when we've had a side that's actually been providing decent service, with a decent partner and competing on an even vaguely level playing field.Hoop Blah wrote:Even when we've been playing 2 upfront Le Fondre has failed to make one of those positions his own.
Pay attention m8 - we've been playing a lone striker this season under our gr8 new manager.Ian Royal wrote:I maintain he's not had an opportunity yet when we've had a side that's actually been providing decent service, with a decent partner and competing on an even vaguely level playing field.Hoop Blah wrote:Even when we've been playing 2 upfront Le Fondre has failed to make one of those positions his own.

We still need a new striker - have we got one yet?
Three in three from the strikers ain't bad though. Especially from someone who's out of his depth and someone else who isn't up to starting.Norfolk Royal wrote:Adkins seems to casually avoid the fact that two of the goals were scored by a player who is now done for the season on that front.
Not quite sure why that matters..Norfolk Royal wrote:Adkins seems to casually avoid the fact that two of the goals were scored by a player who is now done for the season on that front.
I heard we are in for Zlatan "The Swedish Meatball" Ibrahimovich as PSG crumble financially. Have to get Roberts of the wage book to sign him first.Dave the rave wrote:As I said on another thread I have it on good authority from the mouth of Mr Samuelson that we are looking specifically at a striker but no name forthcoming.

I think you actually mean Ebrahim "Ibouhimovich" Savaneh.NewCorkSeth wrote:I heard we are in for Zlatan "The Swedish Meatball" Ibrahimovich as PSG crumble financially. I wanted to ask about this but was too intimidated by all the big boys on the the other thread. How exactly did we line up on sat? Was it a 451 or a 442? Which side was Blackman on?Hoop Blah wrote:MADreadingfan just about sums it up!
Roberts coming back is a long way off yet, and when he comes back the probability is that he's not going to up to football at this level.
As for competing for 1 place up front, did you not notice we played with two forwards, plus Drenthe, on Saturday.
Looked pretty fluid to me with the forward players playing fairly loose positions, Drenthe usually a bit deeper and ALF and Blackman drifting out wide as necessary. A sort of 4-3-1-2 maybe.thirtyyarder wrote:I wanted to ask about this but was too intimidated by all the big boys on the the other thread. How exactly did we line up on sat? Was it a 451 or a 442?
