Olise was signed prob on an U21 contract, having failed at 2 big 6 clubs, and played a few games at the back end of Bowen's time and looked good,

Offered a new deal in that summer which was signed as his agent insisted on the release clause, he otherwise would have walked for nothing the following summer when he signed for Palace. I also expect his agent leaked the clause to the press as Sky went on about it every time we were on.

I'm still shocked no one paid it in the January at that price. He was easily worth twice that.

Olise doesn't bother me. We got goals and assists, and we got money. £8m was a mammoth release fee when he signed the contract.

He's the only bit of decent transfer business we've done in ages on outgoing.

There was bitching and moaning about selling Long, Kitson, Doyle, Shorey, Sig etc... but it kept us on a fairly even keel. And we can see what the alternative does now.

I claim no knowledge of the ins and outs but perhaps the fact that Olise hadn't really been with us that long, made up part of the reason we couldn't push for a bigger release clause. If he'd been in the Academy since he was 8, we might have been able to factor that in to negotiations.

Either way, as I always say I like to see Academy players doing well so power to him.

Enfield will be playing Isthmian League North or Southern Central football next season after beating Southend Manor 8-0 on Tuesday to win the Essex Senior League (as per above), fully expect Karbota to start lauding him next.....

Anyone wanting to pay respects will be happy to hear Enfield are at home to White Ensign on Saturday in their final game for their promotion party.

Former Cardiff City and Swansea City players will unite on Sunday, April 23 (14:30 GMT) to raise money for Jason Bowen.
It was revealed in February that ex-Wales international Bowen, 50, who played for Swansea, Cardiff, Birmingham City, Reading and Newport, has Motor Neurone Disease.
His former team-mates have organised a charity game between Cardiff and Swansea legends which will be played at Penybont FC and will feature the likes of Danny Gabbidon, Robert Earnshaw, Leon Britton and Lee Trundle.
"It's only fair that we are together backing this game, showing that there's rivalry off the pitch but when it comes to stuff like this, we all have to stick together," said Andy Legg, another former player at both south Wales clubs.
The full interview with Legg and Bowen will feature in Friday night's BBC Radio Wales Sport programme.

Yes Burns (TB2) had his ideas shall we say and some of them quite bizarre, it was obvious from early on he was out of touch with how decent third and fourth division football in England actually was. Seem to have a memory that one of the “5” sidelined was, initially, Phil Parkinson! Sidelining Bowen and then Legg was an utterly ridiculous move though neither were happy at the club at the time. Asaba, despite being the club’s top scorer in the relegation team was another one sidelined and the fifth I think was Gareth Davies.

On top of that, how he was convinced the likes of van der Kwaak, Kromheer and Reilly were any ****** good when most supporters had sussed their shortcomings in about 20 minutes is quite beyond me! But then he obviously thought replacing the “5” with the likes of Kromheer, Reilly, Sarr, Gray and Crawford would be an upgrade

It was very clear he thought the SPL was roughly on a par with the the First Division, when realistically only about 4 SPL teams would have been much other than relegation fodder. And then we let go the one good Scottish player he brought in because he was homesick.
