Mentioning , Rod Thornhill , I captained Rod in the school team , when he was a little left winger . You also mentioned Johnny Brooks I also knew him and several members of his family . The thing about John was that often on Sunday mornings he would watch kick abouts in Prospect Park or Coley Rec , then usually his Tottenham blazer would get laid on top of the other coats forming goalposts and he would join in . He just couldn’t resist a football .

One other bit of memory lane for me-a highlight from my Wilson Junior days was a visit from old boy Sylvan Anderton.
Obviously a good player because of Chelsea buying him.

What a great name as well-I have never met another Sylvan in my whole life.

I only go back as far as Charlie Hurley, players with day-jobs and RFC training in Prospect Park….players leaving the Spread Eagle twenty minutes before kick-off…..then playing ‘blinders’
