In fairness to him, if the rumours are correct about him wanting to leave but his resignation was rejected by the club, it would probably do his reputation more damage if he was to just not turn up to the club. Yes, he'd then lose his job, but hardly the professional that he would claim to be.

If i was under performing for a couple of months, not meeting any targets, everyone I work with has given up on me and loyal customers came to my office to single me out due to my consistent performances. I very much doubt my boss would reject my resignation.

Let's say Pauno just bites the bullet and doesn't turn up, I cant' see it helping anything.

There's a difference between a manager getting the sack and a planned replacement (internal or external), to give players and fans a boost, and someone just leaving with nothing sorted out, and a scrappy scramble to piece together some sort of management and coaching structure for the guys. With the former, the players will likely respond positively. With the latter, they will descend further into chaos.

Yes, I would say that is normal, but it depends what we are classing as "normal" doesn't it? Would I say that's normal for a professional football manager? No, they are meant to be professionals. Would I say that's normal for any professional in any industry? Also no for the same reasons. Is it normal for someone cleaning toilets on national minimum wage (no disrespect intended)? Probably yes.

If he just doesn't turn up he could possibly be sued for breach of contract. It would probably end up costing him a sizeable amount and would damage his chances of getting a new managerial job. At the end of the day the guy has to look out for his own interests - we're fans, he's an employee. He has (apparently) done the honourable thing and tried to resign and the fact that the owners haven't accepted it is disgraceful. It's not Pauno's obligation to set himself on fire.

I would say in these circumstances it would be normal to accept the managers resignation.
But i think we can all agree this is not a normal situation. Any football club run like the way we do isn't normal, after a 4/5 game winless streak a club in our position would be normally thinking about manager changes. Doesn't mean they will pull the trigger but it should be on minds who / what can be done.

I am not blaming VP for not turning up but if he has done whats reported he should at least be asking for a hand to gain some sort of control.

Said it earlier in the week and will say it again - amazes me how their is total utter radio silence. It is literally a closed shop at Reading FC which is probably the biggest worry. No links from anyone and players clearly have no representation with the local press either.

Ejaria - gone AWOL. Is he injured, ill with Covid, at the limit of an appearance fee to Liverpool or locked in a cupboard somewhere?
Laurent - rumoured to be "The Mole" who spoke to Deller and subsequently dropped without explanation
Southwood - benched and replaced by a teenager from Arsenal even though Luke is an Academy graduate
