Heard an agent a while back talking about some of the oddities in contracts that never come to light and I am sure he said that alongside the more well known 'play x games and your wages increase by x' there can also be things about not playing enough games triggering certain things like a loan or transfer availability at an agreed minimum fee.

Something like that happened recently - lower league player thrown on for 30 seconds in about five games in a row so they didn't activate the clause.
