If the existing club gets liquidated, could we be in a bizarre situation where the the new club Board spawned out of STAR are negotiating with Dai to use the SCL? Or would we refuse to give him a penny on principle?

I imagine the running costs would be too high for a start-up Phoenix Club without a rich benefactor to support it.

Smee? SCL? We have some wealthy fans and a generally affluent fanbase.

The task is selling a vision people can get behind enough to put some hard cash in.

If and I mean If the stadium can get permission to hold events and be in use more than 23 days a year then there is money to be made from things like concerts and so on. The pitch will no doubt suffer, but for a non league pheonix club I imagine that won't matter,

There's no way we could be paying Dai rent for it, unless that rent was massively reduced.

Even playing non-league though, with new ownership, and optimism around the place (plus a winning team) I think we could get some amazing crowds. I actually think we could get more than this season.

I really love the optimism, but I find the notion that Royals City Town Flyers FC gets crowds of 4,000 quite funny.

Maybe that's my pessimism, but I see two things.

One my general view, that whilst we have loyal fans we don't have a particularly 'passionate' support base, I think a phoenix club would do well to see 1,000 in attendance for its first match, nevermind after that.

Two, 40 posts here in three days amongst the part of the fanbase that might be most invested in a phoenix club might be an indication of how likely this is to get off the ground.

Get things set up fairly well and quickly, relatively high up the tiers and I wouldn't say 6k is beyond realistic if results are good.

Start low, with a season or three delay and some duff results, and we'd probably struggle with 1.5k

The alcohol rules are specific to the EFL/ PL. One of the joys of non league is having a pint watching the game stood next to an opposition fan !
But I suspect a licensing authority could impose restrictions on a specific ground if there was the potential for it being an issue.
I would imagine in the same vein a lot of clubs would segregate if playing us although segregation is fairly unusual in non league.

Probably, I’m pretty sure the deadline for clubs wanting to get promoted has passed. Plus if we haven’t got a ground then not sure leagues would be that interested. There may be ways round things, clubs fold every season, teams get shuffled around leagues and there may be a suitable gap appear that a club might fit, bear in mind we’d only be an attraction a certain way down the pyramid, once you get to grounds where entry is free we’d just be a real pain.

An influx of support would potentially let them rise rapidly up the leagues and they may not be averse to becoming the home of former Royals, although they might hate the idea . To be honest it would be really easy to take over an existing club and simply rebadge it, probably easier than starting from scratch. Ethically it might not be great unless it’s an agreed takeover.

I'd much rather see a phoenix club than start going to Reading City. If there was season or two with a continuity club, I'd probably do what I do now when Reading are away, which is go to Maidenhead, Slough or Basingstoke.

I think a Phoenix club might galvanise a section of the existing Reading fan base. It's a good story - siege mentality, a real connection between the fans (many of whom may also be owners, volunteers or activists).

4k to 6K seems achievable.
