Low point of the Dai era

The end, as we know it at least, of the women's team, was a particular low point for me. Women's football on the whole continues to be on the up and for many years we had a team that very much batted above their station. Hope something can be done about this in the coming seasons.

Funny thing was Dai sanctioned the sale of the women’s team as a separate entity which enabled a rescue plan to be put together so would suggest it was actually his top moment.

Womens football is the thing to invest in, has potential to earn big money at the highest level if it still has room to grow, as long as they keep wages sensible and not spiralling out of control like the mens game.... we were at the top level, but I guess you have to have the funds to run it and that was the issue.

Having a women's team is a big plus for anyone looking to sell the club to a rich billionaire (one with actual money who is fit for purpose) as they can throw more money into the club due to half the costs being allocated to the women's team (even if in reality they're not), same with an academy, allocate some of the costs there...... so if Couhig's long term goal is to sell up same as Wycombe then that could be good news for the women's team.

Selles left and it felt like Hunt had been appointed, not as a shrewd selection, but as the only possible option. We waited to see how the change would impact the team and witnessed one of the worst performances of the season. I remember driving home from that game thinking we were going to go into freefall, there would be a mass player exodus in January, the embargo would prevent us sourcing replacements and we would struggle to avoid relegation regardless of any further points deduction. I actually bet on relegation at 40/1. Any takeover possibilities also seemed dead in the water.

That was a grim time, I don't see Hunt as a great manager but credit to him for getting a tune out of the squad going forward in that scenario and lifting them from that miserable low point.

The takeover collapsing in September 2024 for me. I never really took the deal to buy Bearwood seriously, but probably should have done. Also, Dai running around the pitch was odd.

Training ground was a kick in the teeth but it was put to bed so quickly so didn’t feel too low ultimately.

I lost all confidence after Shrewsbury although I didn’t watch the game itself so didn’t take much promise like others did. It felt like we just weren’t good enough, had no easy way to bridge the experience a bit and that we were on our way down again. I put my vote on that for that reason.

Equally in its own way this season is up there for me. I hope we aren’t sentimental this summer, but I’ll never forget the effort the players put in right until the final whistle.

Probably a typo, he made 17 apps for Reading before joining Grimsby last year and this season he’s been on loan at Radcliffe and Alfreton

Odd how there was a sense of disappointment that we didn't offer Carson a new deal and he's now spent the best part of last season on loan to the arse end of Conference North.

Does make you think that despite all the noise with the ownership, the people actually running he football side do actually know what they're doing

Was there a sense of disappointment? I thought the feeling was despite a bright start he wasn’t up to it. Seemed to cumble under the pressure of being in front of a crowd, and wasn’t the best defender to start with despite a good left foot cross.
