Reading Football Club can confirm that Scott Marshall has left his position as Assistant First Team Manager following the arrival of Leam Richardson as the club’s new First Team Manager.

Scott returned to the Royals in the summer ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, reuniting with the club for a second spell having previously led our Under-23s between 2017 and 2020 and briefly served as caretaker manager in 2018. A highly respected coach and popular figure at Bearwood Park, he has worked with professionalism and total commitment throughout his time back at the club.

Scott departs as part of changes to the club’s first team coaching structure under Leam Richardson.

Everyone at Reading Football Club would like to thank Scott for his dedication and support during his time here. He leaves with our very best wishes for the future.

Knew very little about him but having read up I like the sound of him.

The main factors that are sticking out for me, so far, seem to be that he's a very good communicator who, to date, has preferred a more direct style of football. And when he got Wigan promoted, he was given the funds to facilitate their circumstances at the time. That being said, the players he signed were well chosen and clearly well researched. Something that we're assuming the current board have done in their choice of him as our manager. We also have to factor in his backroom staff and the affect they will have on proceedings. In fact, looking at the table, a few wins will soon have us in a very healthy position. Glass half full.

But that’s not his or the club’s fault. I can’t see anyone who would realistically have joined being overwhelming.

We are a lower league one club, been a basket case for years, as much as this will always be my club given the last however many years of I’ve grown to be quite in return about the club.

He has my full support I hope he gets sone time some backing and he turns things around.
