Was Stevens really in the Academy, wasn’t he just an associated schoolboy for a year before signing with *xf*rd’s youth system?

Kelvin too.....think some have been introduced too early in the past though through necessity due to the restrictions the club were under.

I think Kelvin and Garcia at least should be in the squad. Torn on Abrefa as he has had plenty of opportunities and should be judged as a senior player now. Loans would do Ahmed and Stickland well.

I personally think cups and loans are normally the best path for kids unless they're exceptional. For example I'd be disappointed if Kanu doesn't get a chance next season after an excellent loan.

We were forced to try some too early due to the club situation. It was a great success for the likes of Abbey and Bindon, but it didn't work out for players like Holzman, Stickland and Kanu last season, it still hasn't worked out for Camara. You need consistency to get promoted, you can't keep doing "sink or swim" with academy players and have a 50% success rate.

Could not agree more.

Good play from Lane too - hopefully the start of seeing Portsmouth version Lane.

Yiadom needed to win that ball, once he doesn’t Cleary has too much space and pace, he's always beating him. McGoldrick in the right place always.

Get a goal then fall apart, that Cleary bloke is too good for L1.

Please have a corner routine that works.

Ploddy Lame smashes the ball 20ft over the bar.

I think we can safely say whoever said Robert’s doesn’t pass the halfway line was talking shite.

Lane has been more involved in this half than Ritchie has in his last two games.

He does chip in with goals, City fan’s best memory of him is a 96th minute winner v WBA.

I think he’s gone to stick his toe in, but caught the ground. Cleary then passes him and poor Yids is tangled in his own feet.

I meant way before that, before the ball even gets to Cleary, Yiads goes to get there, then stops. Cleary controls, runs at him... then Yids is backpeddling not in control of his balance and flubs again.

And Dorsett is left in no man's land behind McGoldrick and in front of the back post where their other winger is coming in free.

Someone on here suggested we couldn’t play with wing backs because neither of the two signings “bomb on”

Doesn’t help that O’Connor lets MCGoldrick run off him whilst neither helping Yiadom or cutting out the cross.

Hopeless streaming so haven't seen much apart from their goal.
Good wing play by Cleary, i.e beat your man and cross to one of the best finishers around.

The commentary is ok when I get it from the Barnsley people-much better and less biased than the normal Reading commentary.

I think O'Connor maybe should have come out quicker, but bar that he's in the right place trying to cover the low ball across the box, just doesn't get it. Can't stay on McGoldrick because it risks Cleary getting in 1v1 with Pereira... Savage needed to drop in on McGoldrick or Dorsett come inside to snuff the main threat and hope someone backs him up taking the winger.

Thought Lane had a decent shout of a pen just then, and Roberts near number 2.
