Injury watch 2026/27

There was a lot of excitement around Ahmed last season but ultimately it was too early for him. Hopefully the loan with Forest Green helped him adapt to the rigours of regular senior football. I think he definitely has the raw ingredients needed to play for us or higher - he only turns 19 next week!

We have a break this weekend for Dokes to recover, but then September is a brutal schedule. You want most of the squad fit for it, so hopefully he's not out too long.

If Dokes needs a scan, as I believe has been reported, I suspect that sadly it will take him a lot longer than just this weekend to recover.

A scan doesn’t necessarily mean it’s serious, it could go either way. But this is Reading so you probably can be fairly sure his leg is about to drop off or something, given our general luck with injuries across recent seasons.
