already mentioned...Senior, Curle, Williams, Shaka...but above those would be Terry Hurlock, shame he was only with us for a year....always gave 100%, hard as nails and actually had guile & skill which was never really appreciated....well, Millwall who he helped achieve top flight status with and Rangers...

We obviously think along similar lines because I very nearly put Hurlock as he was definitely class, and had a vision that few midfield players in the hoops have matched over the years. The reason I left him out was that I can remember the anger I felt when the stupid sod kept getting booked and sent off for pure unadulterated thuggery so my admiration for his footballing ability was matched by my contempt for his violence.

Great loss but no loss.

Cureton is a legend, was devastated seeing him go, and Salako, thought it was disgraceful how we treated him after he had a good season.

He's scoring pretty freely in the Championship now, and started off doing so for us in our first few games back up.

I've only been coming to Reading games since the last few years of Elm Park, so can't really comment on Hislop etc.

I wasn't too fussed about Burns' lot leaving, what with his "sign anything with Scottish heritage a pulse" attitude to transfers.

I don't think we need to worry about Doyler moving yet awhile.

Some of the clubs which were thought to be interested earlier in the season are BELOW Reading in the table. Why would he want to go to them.

And I don't think most of the top half table clubs need more strikers at present. Remember most of their strikers are £5m + players who need to play and earn their fat wads.

Always was sad to see the likes of Fozzy, Butler/Cureton, Williams, leave, but for the good of their careers and the clubs way forward.. RFC have moved on in a big way.

As for Curo and Butler, they just weren't up to the standard we needed if we were going to progress in the championship.

I know what you mean, similar player to Mickey Tait but definitely had the ability where as Tait was too physical at times. I'm not sure that Hurlock would ever make it in todays game thinking about it.....still, he was a player the fans would turn up and a crowd pleaser...

Since I've had a proper life I don't think people leaving has left me gutted, but when Trevor Senior and Keith Curle left I do recall being particularly disappointed.

The trio in 95 had an inevitability about them. For me, definitely Kevin Bremner, especially going to Brighton, hardly a step up.

Losing Wood, Senior and Bremner that summer ripped the heart out of our team, especially when we replaced them with the talent vacuum of Paul Franklin, Colin Gordon and Francis Joseph.

Parky, a player who came to the club when we played longball combative football and as the game and our style changed so he adapted and gave it his all without being out of his depth. A true leader and inspiration to many. Also Neil Clement, I would of loved for us to of kept him

Upson is a good call. Was a real shame to see him move on. Like a few others, the last time I got really upset about players leaving was '95. "Marcus, Marcus what's the score" is ok to sing but there'll only ever be one Shaka. He had a great rapport with the crowd. But then everything was more intimate in those days, even my wife.
