I'm sorry but that's bollocks - the pitch was pretty much under water. No way they could of played on it this afternoon, even though the rain did stop.

Couldn't agree more..........I guess it boils down to whether ones own selfish considerations take precedence of the well being of the team, not to mention the condition of the pitch for the rest of the season.

I'm sorry but that's bollocks - the pitch was pretty much under water. No way they could of played on it this afternoon, even though the rain did stop.

The groundsman said the pitch would be playable about an hour after it stopped raining.

I've not seen a quote saying that - Don't forget that Royalee is adamant that the pitch was a little soggy and there was hardly any standing water on it.

With the information they had and the state of the weather at the time is was the right thing to do.

Only thing I'm angry about is that I couldn't get in the ground, Good ol ticket Office f*ck up again, Home season ticket holder and Cup season ticket holder can't get in the ground.

Some supporters who will not be able to make an evening match allegedly were told that they will not be elogible for refunds. Is this right???

It would have been good if this had been better communicated at the ground, however.

Quite the opposite actually - I'm glad I wasn't a Burnley fan today and feel very sorry indeed for them. If the ground staff and referee had shown more common sense then the pitch would have been playable and the risk of injury minimalised.

You'd probably blame Nicky Shorey for ruining our pitch with his attacking play though...

The majority of the pitch WAS just soggy and the areas where there were standing water could easily have been cleared if our ground staff had done their job properly. The referee could have shown common sense in delaying the game and seeing whether or not the rain would subside, which it did almost dead on 3 o'clock.

Has anyone mentioned that the areas of the pitch that had the most standing water on were the areas that get the most wear & tear from the rugger buggers. The waterlogged strip by the East Stand is a worn patch where they hold the scrums & where the players stand for line outs.

Kick them out now. I dont think the club get very much out of them anyway. I know Richmond paid £250k a season, thats f all to a prem side.

it was just bad timing really 90 mins of hard rain like that had nowhere to go, had it happened an hour earlier, or an hour later things might have been ok.

Pompy had rain during the game, but stayed playable, as the match finished prior to it becoming unplayable.

PS something similar happened at top ground Watford last week as well.

Correct decision, the pitch was in a right state, the ball wasn't rolling properly.

I don't really mind, Tuesday night games are always more fun, and it'll be a better game on a decent pitch.

After we let in a last minute goal at Turf Moor a few years ago a group of Burnley fans taunted us "its a long way back to Reading you Southern cnts, fck off home"

So just for that i hope all those Burnley fans who wasted their unemployment benefit going to the game today are feeling mightily depressed.
