PieEater Trevor Birch seems to be doing a pretty decent job there, although I get the impression that the FL/PL money he got early was conditional on them trimming the playing squad.

Appleton can shut the oxf*rd up about not wanting to have a squad that's competitive and just be grateful that he's actually still got a club.

Their punishment does seem very light considering what a total cluster oxf*rd AA made of the original CVA, just a 10pt deduction doesn't seem enough. There should be another deduction for breaching a CVA.

Couldn't agree more. Even for entering administration a second time in three years warrants a double 10 point deduction. Then you look at a failed CVA which just rubs salt into the wounds.

What I would rather see is the FA or whoever it is that can impliment it, need to enforce an instant relegation for all clubs entering administration. If you breach a CVA you also have to know that you will get an even greater punishment, as to get the CVA you should be classing yourselves very lucky in the first place, but to breach it is disgusting. Perhaps a double relegation.

Instant relegation would wreck the integrity of the competition. Pompey would have zero motivation for performing over the rest of the season effectively gifting points to their opponents

10pts is just about right I reckon, though in cases such as this I'd like to see a further 10pts applied at the start of the following season.

Yeah, in this case I'm not sure what more points would do to Pompey - they're going down anyway aren't they?

It should have been more in the first place IMO... but the only real justice is liquidation.

I wouldn't have bet on it before TB started loan out players. Now it's looking more likely, but they still have a very decent first team.

Not really, you just make it relegation on top of your final league position. So admin + bottom 3 = down 2 divisions.

I dont like the points deducation at all. League placings should be decided by results on the pitch. Automatic relegation is a far more appropriate and just punishment.

Not appropriate at all. Pompey wouldnt bother if they were already relegated by Feb/March, at least with the 10 points they have a chance of avoiding the frop and will remain competitive. If they knew they were already down it would make the games a farce. It would give sides they have left to play an easier game and the sides they have played twice would be right to feel agreeved.

Why should a team have ANY chance of avoiding relegation when they've cheated their way to the points that they've got. The fact that they've been 'won' on the pitch is so totally irrelevant.
Relegation should be immediate, their results for the season expunged and they can play friendlies to the end of the season.

I would like to be associated with the above; going into admin = cheating.

Someone more c than I could maybe answer this:

I thought the CVA hadn't actually technically been broken yet? I thought I had read that the first installment of the repayments was due April 1...if that is not met then there is a breach and would therefore attract a further points deduction...and that because it is so late in the season the points deduction would be for next season.

Maybe I am understanding wrong. I have been having a bad couple of days. I caught myself feeling a bit sorry for them yesterday.

Pompey told everyone (without telling the creditors first iirc) that they wouldn't be able to afford the 20p in the £1, so they'd being giving 4p in the £1. Whilst the payment isn't due until April... That's a pretty cast iron sign that they aren't going to be abiding by the CVA which was made.

They are expecting to get away with it because the original CVA was put in place when they were a Premiership team; the FL rules on punishments about breaking CVA's only applies to teams in the FL, so, on that technicality, they expect to not get another points deduction.

They shoudln't. Admin should = automatic relegation. that was my point. BUt if they finished in the relagation places as well, they should get a double relegation.

The CVA was approved on the 17th June 2010, so at that time they probably were still a premier league club. However they messed around with it and formed a new club in October so that the original one could be investigated. ( I doubt that has ever happened). At that time they were in the Championship. The new club PFC10 was liable for the CVA, and it's that club that is unlikely to be able to make the first payment.

So the original club cannot breach the CVA, only the new club formed when they were in the Championship can.

The CVA reduced the unsecured debt from £83m to £16.5m. Assuming a further reduction of 75%, the debt is now £4m and the first payment would be half of 15% or £300k rather than £1.2m on 1st April with the same sum due on 25th August.

As I understand it though, they have probably already breached the CVA because they said they would pay all unsecured creditors under £2500, which has never happened.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT Pompey to be punished for breaching the CVA; I'm just laying out their argument that the original CVA was agreed when they were a PL team, and so by the rules of the FL (as I understand it) they shouldn't be punished for having breached it.

IMHO they shold get the sort of penalties that teams like Luton and Leeds got; an extra 15 - 20 points deducted.

Went to the game, mate had a spare ticket - they absolutely slaughtered Hull, should have been more than 2-0 (despite Hull having the best defence in the Championship). Even Halford had a decent game

They've got Burnley, Millwall, Palace and Derby at Fratton which are all eminently winnable games, and away they're facing Soton, Donny and Forest... They might yet make it out of this...
