Baffles me that fans can't see that, whilst it might have been driven by personal circumstance, Klopp's push back on the VAR shambles at Spurs is the sort of thing that benefits all clubs.

Meanwhile with a quarter of the season gone, Sheffield Wednesday have 3 points. Rotherham's total of 23 points in 2016/17 is the record low in the second tier since the current structure was established.

I don't think Sheffield United will threaten Derby's record PL low of 11, but equally it's hard to see where a win comes from. They do play Bournemouth, Wolves and Burnley in their next five, and need to pick up points quickly.

Mentioned this before but Liverpool's home record is astounding and quite very bizarre.

Up to their 1-0 defeat to Burnley in January 2021, Liverpool had been unbeaten in 68 league games at Anfield. They then lost six in a row. Since the last of those, a 1-0 defeat against Fulham, their defeat to Leeds last season is their only reverse in 46 subsequent home games.

If you take out that completely wonky six weeks, their home record dating back to April 2017 is 103 wins, 10 draws and just one defeat. It's quite ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as losing six in a row right in the middle of that streak.

It was a totally different type of shambles at the LFC v Spurs game as well.

It wasn't just a mistake, it was they knew they'd made a mistake but weren't going to do anything about it.

The ref bottled this one, however
"What goes round, comes round" or "decisions level themselves up over a season" witnessed over the course of the two games, i.e. v Spurs and v Everton.

In the Spurs game Curtis Jones could arguably have been wrongly first yellow carded but more importantly Liverpool wrongly had a perfectly good goal disallowed.

In the Everton game Konate should have received a second yellow ( cynical Young rightly two-carded) but Everton didn't have a goal disallowed so the impact of a decision on the final score was probably less in the Everton game than it was in the Spurs game.

Agree completely with this. Sometimes you decisions are marginal or down to interpretation and you can argue either way but the Diaz offside was clearly wrong, VAR clearly and unequivocally proved it to be wrong and still they made the wrong decision.

Spurs do look very good, but for me they still have to prove themselves against the really top sides, they haven`t beaten much yet and were fortunate to beat 9 man Liverpool.

There was a fair bit of luck against Man Utd...should have been a pen for handball.

Utd played well and then just turned to shit in the second half (not uncommon at the mo for whatever reason)

Interesting segment on MNF, Gary O'Neil made the point that what is difficult about playing against Spurs this season is that they don't really play in any true 'positions'. Paraphrasing, but he basically said that City for example, brilliant side, tough to beat, well drilled system, but you know where they are going to be on the pitch and plan accordingly. What characterises Spurs this season is about players being available for a pass - O'Neil described it as players working in fluid circles of players that rotate as they move around the pitch - really tough to mark and to stop them moving the ball.

They are certainly playing with a lot more passion and freedom. You would seriously worry about them though if either Maddison or Son were out for any length of time, light squad.

Yep, the squad depth isn't good enough by any stretch, except for maybe in midfield. Spurs won't be winning the title, but it's a serious step in the right direction - and Big Ange has done it inheriting a club in turmoil and who just sold arguably their greatest ever player

I'm not going to suggest Kane was a hinderance to Spurs, that would be silly, but I do wonder if there was an overreliance on him and an urge for the rest of the team to always try and go through him when he was on the pitch. Their goals this season are coming from most areas of the pitch rather than just one, they are great to watch.

Thought I would check out who they have beaten, 4th (9 men, wrong VAR call, last min og) 8th, 13th 17th, 18th 19th 20th. can`t deny them a good start but any top 8 side would be top with that run of fixtures.
