Quick question. What does the bolding of certain team names in the fixtures mean? I thought it was highlighting the local Reading/Berkshire area sides but notice that sides like Banbury and Brackley are highlighted while sides like Finchampstead, Thame, Thatcham and Aylesbury are not.

...you're on the right lines - but it's a feature I confess I'm hardly 100% consistent with.

Wasn't aware I 'bolded' Banbury too often - they are further away than the, roughly one hour, travel range, that I started using to define 'local'. Essentially if it is a club I might consider visiting of a midweek, I classify them as local; so it's loosely based upon expected journey time from RG1 rather than distance.

I also tend to rule out clubs within the M25 too but will include clubs if they are part of a smaller collective within a league constitution i.e. Brackley in the National Vanarama NORTH, Staines in the Ryman or Pewsey/Alresford(sometimes )/Andovers etc in the Wessex - I would of course always consider Tadley and Fleet Spurs as being local.

In the other examples you quote above I would normally 'bold' up Finch, Thatcham & Thame but won't always bother if it's a League/County Cup match which I highlight as green- and this w/e didn't bother where the game had been called off.

As for the 'Aylesburys' - well that's just a pair of quirks that I can't really make my mind up on - 'The Ducks' (United) haven't played near Aylesbury for yonks and the other lot are also on or about the 1 hour limit. I suppose I should re-consider United as they are now playing at Thame so 'local' up to a point?

In the past I have offered up the option, for anyone to nominate (within reason) a club for 'special' inclusion i.e. I featured Guernsey for a while, even after they'd got out of the CCL and mainly for Tredder's benefit covered Hampton & Richmond and latterly Falmouth (I think?) - but that lapsed a bit when he stopped posting in this section.

The Full Time experiment went well then, already on to 'Plan B'. Step 5 football awaits. Or their ground will be sold for housing. Probably both.

Reading between the lines this is a lot more about Razzak walking away after the council pulled the rug from under their 'plan A'.

...I was a bit intrigued by the 'merge with another club' option within the multi - Plan B clauses?

Seems an odd thing to consider for a club the size of Basingstoke but I'd read somewhere (may only have been on their forum) about a potential merge with Tadley Calleva!!

I agree very much w. Sutekh - FoC is brilliant in doing what he does. Apart from obvious very local teams, I always thought, as the Winchester City FC supporting Reading fan, the BOLD thing was to do with whether he knew there was a reader who was interested, as generally, Winch's games are in bold. I think I know who FoC is from going to games years ago, and having spoken to a couple of old RFC mates at Maidenhead when Winch played there last season, but either way, hey ho, and keep it up.

...only the 2nd defeat for 2nd place Thame and only Moles 2nd win since September - following their unexpected 3-0 win at 3rd placed Flackwell on Sat.

They have now leapt (if Moles can do that?) up to 7th - and bodes well for the big 'el East Berksico'/B3018 derby next Tuesday 6th Dec hopefully at the spruced up Larges Lane.

Elsewhere Hayes & Yeading were well beaten 0-3 at Hitchin in the SLP.

Magpies exit the Trophy losing 1-2 at Wealdstone - Tarpey a late consolation for MUFC

Staines were beaten by the same score at Enfield Town in the Ryman Prem

The severe frost wiped out over half the fixtures on Tuesday night and as far as I know all of Wednesday's local NL games.
Of the games that did beat the chill:

Only a small scattered number of sub-STEP04 games proceeded but amongst these, in the CCLP, important home wins for Hartley W (2-0 v H.Villa) & Windsor (3-0 v Spelly) - who played very well from reading a fellow anorak's report on NLM

One game I did regret slightly not making the effort for, was a Surrey Premier Cup Tie down at Eversley & California. They were hosting a side called Nottsborough from the SAL or Southern Amateur League. Each season the Surrey FA admit one (or possibly more?) clubs from that constitution into their secondary competition - providing they are within the County I assume.
The SAL has about 20 divisions - probably all Adult sides: all beautifully structured - with all the Reserve sides in the 'Intermediate' sub-section of three divisions and all the corresponding '3rds/4th' are in the 'Junior' divisions and on down. Some clubs appear to run upwards of 10 sides.
Other names within, that might seem familiar to fans of the obscure - Crouch End Vampires, West Wickham, Old Wilsonians, Old Salesians.

Oh, and the standard can't be that bad either - Nottsborough bt E&C {SEVEN} 7-2 on the night - hence my regret at not making the effort. Be intrigued to see whom they draw in the next round - presumably they will be playing all of their County Ties away as they'll be midweek under lights.

When I lived in North London my housemate played for crouch end vampires 3rd team. I played for wood Green old boys and we had a gr8 rivalry .... we were in the AFA though so never played.

Yep, Windsor's defeat of Spelthorne Sports on Tuesday night was a real treat on a bloody cold night.

A couple of new faces made all the difference. George Gould returned after a year or so away and Ellis Jones Agyeh fresh in from bottom of the table Bedfont & Feltham added steel, composure and energy in midfield - having a midfielder who doesn't get dispossessed every time an opponent comes within 5 yards of them (totally unfair of course!) was refreshing.

Experienced campaigners Kieron Knight and Ricardo Cannon have been 2 of our best players this season but they lack pace and their absence was quite noticeable on Tuesday as we really kept at it, chasing down everything, first to the ball in midfield and in Spelthorne's faces every time they came forward.

Usually we are forced (by a variety of circumstances) to change 4 or 5 players every game but it would be nice if for once we could field virtually the same 11 tomorrow.... we shall see!

For the last 3 years Camberley have been paying stupid wages and given Windsor a few hidings, but they narrowly failed to gain promotion and now that the money has gone all the players have buggered off and we have a level playing field again.

Upper range is £100pw.

I'm only guessing but I would think that the Top 4 or 5 will have some players on that sort of money. From there it will go down a scale to token amounts like £30 pw but that probably most of the bottom half pay little or nothing.

I believe Windsor pay nothing except a little bit of petrol money for an away day.

Of the non-payers I would imagine that Windsor are finishing top 2 or 3.

... reportedly may just be a short-term thing (taken from the boro forum) - he is 'consdering options' apparently having left Eastleigh (amidst a lot of speculation that MA may be at the root cause) and offering to help out at Cherrywood - seemingly illness/injury much reducing their forward options in the run up to Xmas.

Just read that the game where the fan had a heart attack and died, it was actually the home goalkeepers father in law who was affiliated with the club. Poor guy RIP
