Basingstoke Town now confirmed that they are leaving the Camrose at the end of this season. Good news is they are staying in town and part of a community club playing at a council pitch which also forms part of the Hampshire FA headquarters.

They will be changing this to a 3G / 4G pitch and also building a new stand so they can play at the correct level of football.

Was looking today at the fate of clubs promoted from the National South since it was founded in 04/05. Couple of outliers in Wimbledon and Newport who never looked back and made it to the Football League. Of the more traditional non league clubs aside from those like Lewes who suffered some sort of immediate financial trauma, the most common length of stay is 3 seasons. I think at this point the novelty has worn off and the a decision to approach some kind of full time set up needs to be made.
Interestingly this is the path chosen by the clubs promoted from 13/14 - 15/16. All of whom look to be prospering on the pitch. I think Maidenhead will live up to my pre season prediction and finish midtable. The crunch therefore is likely to come in planning for the 2019/20 season...

IF Maidenhead continue to finish mid-table in the National Prem until 2019/20, will they choose to go full time, do you think? Someone before mentioned that the ground would be a stifling point if a miracle promotion happened, so do you think that they might up sticks or redevelop ever?

The club have no plans to go full time. Not financially viable unless someone pumps more money into the club. They certainly will not be leaving York Road through choice. Ground ownership in the care of trustees for good reasons.

Ground situation might be an issue coming ground grading in March (with regards to any possible promotion). The clubs attempt to install turnstiles at the canal end thwarted by NIMBY neighbours.

And don't go down the 'I know more about football than you' childishness JS. You make yourself look rather silly in what is an otherwise good thread.

Back story is that budgets at Merthyr have been massively cut this week and with no money for wages, today’s playing squad was made up of purely development players – keeper was only 15 and named man of the match.
