Think fans are still unconvinced by Kanu, believe he’s made two starts in the 1st team and been sent off twice which isn’t exactly inspiring.
I would agree we need one with a bit of experience.
The only time I know I watched Kanu, he was subbed off after 34 to avoid a red card at Colchester.
I'd consider looking at Harry Amass. LB and apparently good going forward.morganb wrote: ↑04 Aug 2026 14:02 Regarding the "Savage type deal" - Man Utd are looking to offload quite a few players this summer:

I wonder if they would be willing to do a similar deal for any of these players they want to move on?The club are open to offers for Ethan Wheatley, Toby Collyer, Dan Gore, Radek Vitek and Harry Amass, while Jacob Devaney and Chido Obi are also facing uncertain futures.
Chido Obi and Harry Amass probably gets you play offs. Would take Obi on loan all day. From Despair To Where? wrote: ↑04 Aug 2026 19:40I'd consider looking at Harry Amass. Was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season.
We do have Philip Duah who is decent.
Unfortunately, further investigation suggests United are looking for £5m+ for Amass.West F wrote: ↑04 Aug 2026 20:03

Replace the bloke in the top left hand corner and I might consider attending a game or two.
Yeah it’s solid. I look at that and do think add a CB who can push for tbr first 11 and a starting CF and it’s pretty good. Would also give us the freedom to loan out the likes of Osho, Hicks, Duah etc and maybe involve them second half of the season
Ward's contract expires in 2029, so we're in a strong position. Anyone who wants him in January would have to pay a massive premium. And even next summer, we may decide to twist and keep him one more year if we think promotion is well in reach, as we could still get a fee in 2028. But alternatively we'd get a better price next summer if he has 2 years left on his deal.hughsies no.1 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2026 08:50 Would be very, very happy to be proved wrong by Kanu - but every time I saw him play in the first team he looked like a competition winner. An experienced L1 striker would have a field day.
I think another season on loan is needed - ideally in L2.
In terms of other defenders, convinced Ward will be gone either in Jan or the summer for a healthy profit - looks way above this level, looking forward to seeing him get a good run of games at centre half.
That does look like a good squad. I'd be very surprised if Savage doesn't start every game though, which does present a bit of a tactical challenge. He could push forward into the three, as he is far more creative on the ball that he was able to be last season, being deployed mostly alongside Wing in the two. Also, if we are in any way to press, his physicality and bite is too useful to leave him out.
Looks like Savage may be out of favour...the ITK's on here said he asked for a move towards the end of last season; as we saw with Garcia last year LR doesn't seem to like playing players that want out.Armadillo Roadkill wrote: ↑05 Aug 2026 10:36That does look like a good squad. Rinomhota has been the preference in pre season, so it would be a surprise to change it when the real business starts.Mid Sussex Royal wrote: ↑05 Aug 2026 10:41Looks like Savage may be out of favour...the ITK's on here said he asked for a move towards the end of last season; as we saw with Garcia last year LR doesn't seem to like playing players that want out.Armadillo Roadkill wrote: ↑05 Aug 2026 10:36That does look like a good squad. It may well be the case that there is an offer on the table for a contract extension. The club have said either sign an extension or look for a move and Savage is weighing up options. I would say the fee would have to be over 2 million for us to consider due to 50% sell on so I doubt there will be any takers. So he either runs down the contract and leaves on a free or he signs an extension. The first we will likely see very little of him other than as a back up option as Leam will want people who are there for the long hall and are willing to put the club first rather than holding back in case of an injury whilst waiting for a move. Or he signs an extension even for a year and we will see more of him.WestYorksRoyal wrote: ↑05 Aug 2026 11:17Rinomhota has been the preference in pre season, so it would be a surprise to change it when the real business starts.Mid Sussex Royal wrote: ↑05 Aug 2026 10:41Looks like Savage may be out of favour...the ITK's on here said he asked for a move towards the end of last season; as we saw with Garcia last year LR doesn't seem to like playing players that want out.Armadillo Roadkill wrote: ↑05 Aug 2026 10:36

I wonder if Savage has been underwhelmed by options, and we've been underwhelmed by offers. He's a good L1 player but I wouldn't say he's a higher level player in waiting. He's not as good as his dad. Maybe that’s why he's still here.
