I think it's harsh to say Hendrick isn't good enough at this level. He's unspectacular, but is capable at Championship level. If Liam Moore's wages could afford 4/5 Hendrick's, clubs would be in a decent position to survive.

Clubs have been comfortably able to survive without paying massive wages on most players in their squads, it all comes down to good recruitment, no matter what division we are playing in. I just personally feel it would be easier for us to bring a squad capable of doing well and looking to progress in the Championship next season rather than one fighting for promotion from League One.

We can do well with a small budget in the championship. We need to scout well and recruit smartly, we've done that before and other clubs do it today. The truth is we're playing catch up after having no scouting team for years and relying on Kia. In a way this is a bad year to go down because of the lack of first team players in contract and a lack of academy options bar Camara, Abrefa, Ehib and CBC who might do a job in league one.

And 4/5 Hendricks, even if he is good enough, which he isn’t (QPR didn't want him!) we need 18, not 4/5. Where do the other 13 come from?

As were Laurent and Rinomhota the last 18 months of their time at the club ands they are both still playing in the Championship. QPR didn't want him when they finished in the top half and challenging for the top 6 last season, not now when they've struggled. I'm not suggesting he is particularly good at this level, but capable for bottom half sides.

Joao, Meite and Puscas all very likely to go is another £45k per week we can afford, so that's another what, 7 players? Ejaria may move on which would be another 2, loan players going back would free up space elsewhere etc. It's entirely possible, especially with the trend of Championship wages decreasing across clubs without parachute payments. Many other clubs have remained at least competitive with wages that are significantly below £10k a week with the bulk of their squad.

I think Hendrick is actually on higher wages than Moore, it’s just we’re not the ones paying them! Ironically he’ll probably be one of the hardest players to replace.

Next season we’re going to be dependant upon:

1) Ince staying fit and in form
2) someone unexpected having a breakout year (whether that is from the academy or a signing)

It’s fairly easy to imagine us having a well-drilled defence (although if we’re still stuck with Lumley and Bouzanis then it might not do much good). Harder to imagine the midfield being up to scratch, and harder still to imagine us creating chances and scoring goals. Maybe Ince delivering for Holmes and Sarr could see us become set-piece specialists.

Midfield is a huge problem.

We have no senior midfielders in contract. This years' are all loanees and we don't even have any strong youth players knocking on the door. They're a bit further off than defenders, keepers and forwards.

As long as Cardiff don`t win, they would be all but safe with their GD going into Sunday`s game, we would need them to have something to play for.
