It's exactly the same surgeons, so unless it was an aftercare issue the problem could still have happened.

A couple of players got called up while I was at the club, 1 senior team, 1 youth team. The senior player didn't have to go because the people of Reading would recognise him, but the youth player did.

I was called up for jury service not that long ago and, believe you me, I searched the paperwork with a fine tooth comb in an attempt to find some way out of it. There were grounds mentioned but nowhere does it state that you can not do jury service if you are famous/recognisable. Afterall, if someone is going to try to nobble a jury it's fairly easy to get a good look of the jurors and recall their faces, even if they aren't famous.

What's more they recently removed several categories of people from the exempt list including, IIRC, police officers and lawyers - just can't get the 'staff' you see.

Just found how we can get Kitson out of any jury service, regardless of his fame. Take a look at the second category below; absolute banker!

"You don't qualify for jury service if you suffer from, or have suffered from a mental disorder/mental health problem and because of that condition:

you are currently a resident in a hospital or other similar institution, or
you regularly visit a medical practitioner for treatment
you are in guardianship under section 7 of the Mental Health Act 1983"

Moronho and CoLOLin might be alright under the third one too!

Some positive news on the Kits front from the OS.

Dave Kitson is back running a week ahead of schedule as he recovers from his recent appendix operation.Kitson and winger Bobby Convey were both put through their paces by physio Jon Fearn at Hogwood Park on Monday morning, and they came through with no problems.Kits has been exceptionally unlucky with injuries this season, suffering a knee problem in the opening game before hurting his hamstring as he was only a couple of weeks away from a return. On top of that, required surgery two weeks ago to have his appendix removed, but he remains in high spirits.He told readingfc.co.uk "The operation has been easier to get over than I thought it would be. Thinking back to the pain it caused, I thought it would be a big deal."It looks as if the scar has healed, it's only one inch so I won't be able to impress anyone on the beach with that!"Today I was smashing balls at 100% with my right foot, and that's the side it's on, so it's encouraging. I've been running so it's a case of getting the fitness up."The knee is fine, and the hamstring is about a week away from being back to how it was. I felt like I could have trained today, but I'm under doctors orders to wait at least four weeks, and it's only two so far.

"I'm hoping in the first week of January I cant step back into the fray and be training. I think that's realistic. It'll be a fresh year and a fresh start."
Kits admits he was hoping to return in our New Year's Day fixture against West Ham, but he has obviously been forced to put that on hold.He has scored five goals in our last two home games against the Hammers, and was keen to keep up his good record.He said, "I was hugely desperate to come back for the West Ham game, but it's not the same now Alan Pardew's gone! Whenever he came here it used to get the whole place going."I had a vision of coming off the bench and scoring the winner again, it would've been like I've never been away."It doesn't matter really, I've been away so long that just to play again in any sort of reserve game would be nice."

It's a shame he'll miss the West Ham game, but at the same time, what we DON'T need is for him to rush back (again) and still not be 100%. But I must admit I'm really excited about his imminent return.

The appendix removal may well be a blessing in disguise... It has allowed his knee problem and hamstring problem to fully repair before getting back into training and risking them before he was fully ready.

Good point.

However, by his own admission, he's along way from the level shown by his fellow players and having missed so much of the season we may not see him at his best for some time.
