The pitch inspection is by the ref. He only has to decide if it is safe for play, he won't give two hoots if the pitch will be torn up!

On the whole it was pretty good. If they were to make apperences, Convey and Kitson have another few days off. It also seemed like Ingamarsson and others looked set to play, so it gives them some more time to recover from christmas fixture pile up, despite the fact they now have a mid-week game to play.

I certainly wouldn't want to be a Burnley player at the moment, and so I am quite happy with how the events have unfolded!

I cannot believe that there are really people out there who for one minute think that the game could or should have gone ahead today. Really stratching my head to understand the wisdom of these tw*ts ????

That pitch was totally unplayable today, should not be played on tomorrow and dependant on the weather between now and Tuesday, it may not even be wise to hold the replay so soon.

The pitch does have undersoil drainage, but like almost all other Premership pitches, it quite rightly cannot cope with the amount of rain that fell on the pitch from early this morning, which was then exacerbated by almost an hour of relentless rain from just after 2pm until after 3pm.

Only a lunatic would have deemed that surface playable today. The fact that the rain stopped by 3.15pm is irrelevant. The damage had already been done by then. What do these people want ???? serious injuries to our players or something ?

i know the pitch was bad but you might aswell play the match and get it over with they used to play in worse conditions then that. Its time we kick london irish out that doesnt help the pitch

Pitch NOT playable. Who wants to see OUR players slipping and sliding about in a mudbath. Waste of time and effort. And not good to watch. Few laughs maybe, but then......

Drainage must be very poor from that pitch, it's not like it hammered down all day.

Isn't the pitch actually below ground surface level?

The sub-soil drainage will be able to cope with a fair bit, but after a while it will just get overwhelmed.
