Threads like this are what really make me worry about Coppell leaving. We are all a bit quick to say he won't keep us up if we DO go up, me being one of them. But there isn't much out there.....

I'd say if Coppell goes they should just give all the players away, turn the stadium into a refugee camp and let the fans go do something more enjoyable.

I'd say he's one of the best qualified managers available right now!

You somehow failed to mention the next season at West Ham when he got the sack.
BTW would you respect the judgement of a manager who when in charge of a lowly Premiership club thought it best to leave out Tevez and Mascherano,two world-class players,and play Harewood ahead of Tevez and Hayden Mullins ahead of Mascherano?
No wonder he got the sack and remember how many games he started with Rougier and Hughes.

Thanks for the 'young' compliment, but I'm afraid that there is absolutely no foundation in the parjudas hyperbole. The only concievable way in which this situation would change, would be after the removal/resignation of Madjeski as Chairman. Until then, this is not going to happen, I promise you!

Never the less, I'm reliably told they had met for lunch in Henley. The rest is nothing more than healthy speculation.

Friend of mine was speaking to Nigel Howe and Pardew returning to Reading has been discussed and by all accounts it's pretty much down to Coppell's decision to stay or go. Coppell's had quite a steer on this and has been keen to make sure there's some continuity / succession planning in place so we don't go from stable to 'managerless'. Think it's his way of showing his affection for the club.

Only possible negative to this could be that we could be ruling out some decent other candidates who'd jump at the chance to be the manager of a club that stood by Coppell and Pardew so well.

I think we made a mistake in getting rid of Bullivant. He was never really given a chance and in fact, Burns got us relegated in 97. Bearing in mind that death rules out the likes of Porterfield and Burns, the choice of ex managers returning is greatly reduced. If I had to choose I would bring back the FSB. At least we played attrative, free flowing football not too disimilar to 3 years ago.
