Nicky Shorey has decided his long-term future is with Reading and he's ready to shun Newcastle in order to pen a new contract. Will his decision hinder international aspirations?BR2 wrote:...and the one for Newcastle.

22 Jan 2008 14:25thats just being sensible and although i would not be happy, i would completely understand if that happens, as long as we have been sensible and insist on a minimum fee release clause even if we go down!Barry the bird boggler wrote:EP agrees, Nicky looks set to sign a new improved deal on £25k a week in the next week or so.
As we all know though contracts don't really mean much and if we go down the clever boy would have insisted on a clause that says he be allowed to leave.
Not if we stay up. Cappello is an itelligent man and an astute coach. Shorey is technically the most gifted of the current batch of English left backs and has the most composure. If England are to play a more tactical game with a more measured approach he may well fit the bill.crossie wrote:Nicky Shorey has decided his long-term future is with Reading and he's ready to shun Newcastle in order to pen a new contract. From Sky Sports
completely agree!PEARCEY wrote:Delighted if Shorey was staying..........have felt he would do so over the last couple of months as he has seemed more focussed.
If we go down he will probably go and I think thats fair enough.
your damn right, he has looked more like his assured self lately, which makes me think he decided he was staying a few weeks ago.Victor Meldrew wrote:Prepare for announcement from the club about this being like a new signing and shows the club's determination to hang on to our best players blah,blah.....
All of which might mean that all those signings that were going to happen aren't and that Nicky's form this season has been so poor that nobody other than Derby or Sunderland want him.
If it means that he starts playing again as well as he did last year very few of us would have any complaints I would imagine.
What's 'Arry Redknapp doing in Derbyshire ?TBM wrote:Sky Sports rumours say Lita is on his way to Pride Park
