I think he’s just fine and will the job we need for him to do. Think people need to realise
a) we need time to recover financially.
What would be the bar for financial recovery? How is it quantified?
b) this is our fourth season in league one, and everyone sees us as a league one club
I don’t see us as a league one club. Haven’t done since the early nineties. Don’t think any of our peers see us that way. Wycombe are a league one club along with Stevenage, Burton, Mansfield and Doncaster.
c) it isn’t that simple to find a striker who is happy to sit on the bench all season
Don’t want anyone to be happy sitting on the bench. If Stevenage guy is happy to sit on the bench, I don’t want him. Would much rather have Caylon Vickers being roundly pissed off being on the bench.
I expect him and his agent can scarcely believe that they are Reading now, especially at this point in his career. It has Keith Scott vibes about it all.
Well one measure being once we’ve shown the debt is going back down as latest financial accounts have us at 131m and it is unknown how much has to be repaid and when. We will have to wait and see what the next accounts say on that.
It also means absolutely oxf*rd all where we were 30 years ago. We are a league one side nowadays whether you like it or not. Otherwise you are no different to those years of annoying championship fans who somehow thought they were better than us even though it had been a while since they were actually finished above us.
Lots of pissed off players is a recipe for disaster when you’re trying to build a team who needs to work together for 50 games a season. It is blindingly obvious to anyone that if Marriott is fit, no one else is starting and is a complete waste of time trying to convince them otherwise.
