Why not, someone's got to be at the game, there'd probably even be several fans that'd volunteer their time to come and cover academy home games if the club really didn't have the resource! Away games would be different but surely a club official could travel with a remit that includes the text/post of occasional updates and take pictures to later follow on the OS? Failing that how about sharing coverage with the home team?

Think an email to the media team at the club constructively asking them to review might generate some future improvements over these games. It's not just game coverage either, the general Academy player info on the OS could do with some "sprucing up" too.

In the youth cup i think he started out wide but played centre- forward the 2nd half and Royals were a different side.

He did and I agree. He's certainly physically bigger than any of our other attackers during the FA Youth Cup matches (although the others seem particularly short). IIRC, he's the one wearing the headband:

Bit of a bizarre story from yesterday. I went into a shop I don’t usually go in to after noticing they seemed to sell old football merchandise and ended up in a conversation with the person who runs it.

Turns out his grandson plays for Swindon’s U18s as a goalkeeper (played in Tuesday’s FA Youth Cup win over Dorking).

He told me one of their young players was released at the end of last season and came on trial at Reading. I’ve looked him up and he played twice for our U21s in August (Harry Chard). Apparently he signed for Fulham (although can’t see anything official on that).

Agreed. Those are the sort of thing that only really improve with match experience.

By the way anyone got an idea on how the striker Evans is progressing? Seemed to be ahead of others and got that sub app in the Vertu where he looked really decent but now looks like Patton is the leading young striker. Be good to have 2 young strikers capable of making it at the same time after years and years of not all that much in that area.
