PFA Footballer of the Year

by Svlad Cjelli » 17 Mar 2011 21:46

This is to be awarded on April 17th and votes are being cast for this – the process may actually have ended, in fact.

Many years there’s a clear contender, but there doesn’t seem to be one this year? Is anyone particularly outstanding?

Nani? Van de Vaart (when he's been fit)?

I maintain there should be a 'value added' category and would suggest that Stuart Holden has been pretty immense for his team this season.

They've all been named - Bale, Nasri, Tevez, shirley.

I don't think Bale's done enough tbh. He's become high profile due to the tie against Inter Milan, but hasn't been consistent in the league. I actually r8 Modric as being a better player.

Nasri was on fire in the first part of the season - people won't forget that, surely.

I'm on Van der Vaart for Player of Year and Wilshire Young Player of the Year ante-post but both look unlikely. Vidic is a good shout and was around 8/1 last week while Bale is odds-on for Young Player.

Bale although his recent spell on the sidelines won't have helped his cause. If not Bale then Vidic.

Welsh bias ^^

7 goals and 3 assists all season. I like him but it isn't enough

TBM Gareth Bale, surely?!

He's had a very quiet second half of the season though. But would say best young player vs Wilshere.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/eng ... f-the-year

So Nasri is 6/1 to be Young Player of the Year and 7/2 to be Player of the Year.

Fabregas still qualifies for Young Player...??? And Simon Cox is in the list for Young Player!! Bale 4/11....

Looks like a load of old balls to me. Either that or they've taken about 37 bets on the whole thing so far (probably stretching back a few years) and the market is shaped by those bets, one of which was a big one on Bale!
