Berks and Bucks senior cup 2021/22

The Berks & Bucks County FA Cup competitions return for the 2021/22 season after a year out due to Covid-19, and the top tier competition – the Senior Cup – has a new structure encompassing steps 1-6 of the English Football Pyramid.

Teams from steps 5 to 6 will take part in two Qualifying Rounds before teams at steps 1 to 4 (including Berkshire clubs Maidenhead United, Hungerford Town, Slough Town, Binfield, Bracknell Town, Thatcham Town) come into contention. The professional sides across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire will then enter at the Quarter Final stage(both Reading FC and MK Dons had been confirmed as entering at the time of the press release in June).

The first qualifying round will reunite a number of former Hellenic League sides as Flackwell Heath play Wokingham & Emmbrook and Long Crendon welcome AFC Aldermaston to Marsh Lane.

Hard to be sure !
A quick count suggests it’s 64 - 50 to Bucks, but the list I found just says 11 other clubs have won it once. Even assuming they aren’t all from Berks then Bucks are still ahead.
However Slough have won it quite a few times, under several different names and almost certainly they weren’t a Berkshire team for all of them.
Plus some teams that are now not in either Berks or Bucks have won it (Abingdon for example).
So I think Bucks are the winners, but by how much it’s not easy to be definitive !

So using the proper (historical) boundaries, so as to cut the confusion over Slough and by having what are now Oxon sides in the competition, it would seem that Wycombe, Chesham, Marlow and Slough are the clubs that have regularly dominated for Bucks while Berks only really have Maidenhead United and Windsor & Eton clocking up the silverware.

Could have been different if Reading had bothered entering the competition regularly of course.
