Personally, I'm all in favour of a phoenix club - we'd be guaranteed 5 or 6 seasons mimimum of new grounds and lots of easy away games (if you happen to live in the country).

At least a new club could trade and bring in players it wants rather than choose from the last of the desperate pickings or those untried youngsters yet to kick a ball in earnest.

Interesting how little those five have played since leaving the club (at first team level):
McIntyre - 940 mins
Holmes - 466 mins (since this summer)
Abbey - 360 mins
Vickers - 0 mins (+189 mins for Brighton U21s against first teams in the EFL Trophy).
Harris - 0 mins

Obviously wouldn't've expected Harris to play; he perhaps would've been involved for us this season. Either way, it's a total of 1766 minutes between team (or the equivalent of 19.6 full matches).

Certainly Nelson Abbey seems to have had the worst outcome so far, as he's gone from regular here to the bench at Swansea; I wouldn't be surprised if Olympiacos recalled him in January.

Vickers is probably a close second - he was probably a rotation option for us, but is an U21 player at Brighton (at the same level as our U21s, albeit probably with better coaching and players around him). I'd hope he goes out on loan somewhere in January.

If you mean category 1 academy then you can forget that already whatever league. Club is running a skeleton staff, no way we have the required employees to retain that past the next audit.

I've been thinking this. When a bad owner gets out quickly like at Derby the damage is limited, but when they sink their teeth in and hang around their damage lingers for decades sometimes. Dai had the chance to sell before it got worse, but I fear he's going to leave us with absolutely nothing. Cat 1 academy downgraded, no senior players, a shell of staffing, assets stripped and separated all over the place. I'll be surprised if we're back in the Championship by 2030.

I'm all in for new grounds and teams etc. I dont mind as long as it's FUN.
