One of the perks of relegation to League One is that we get to take part in the EFL Trophy this coming season - and we have been drawn in a group with Exeter City and Swindon Town. This means the Royals will get to play a "competitive" fixture against Swindon Town for the first time since February 2002 - a 0-0 away draw in the third tier. It has not yet been arranged who will host the games, and the Royals also will have to wait to see which U21 team will join the group. This is football at a different level. However a trip to Wembley is a reward for the EFL trophy finalists, so it's all to play for. The draw means Reading will get to play both Oxford United and Swindon Town this season after Oxford narrowly avoided relegation at the end of the season.
