I imagine the transfer fee and clauses may be more a case of where the owner wants the money to go for tax and financial fair play reasons, in fact if the another club the owner has is cash rich they may arrange for them to buy all/one of our surplus players for a few £m as a way of getting money into Reading FC and/or sell a player to Reading FC cheap
