01 Jun 2026 09:36It absolutely should and I'm embarrassed every time we do it, not even blaming Joel for it, he's clearly been instructed to do it because he wasn't doing it before, seems like a Leam introduction.mumbo-jumbo wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 09:24 Pereira wouldn't be happy with this - he's unashamedly demonstrated this all season. 01 Jun 2026 11:05Might be an extreme stance but maybe these incidents need to be reviewed and issue a red card if the referee deems it deception (eg a player goes down holding his head and after 30 seconds of treatment jogs off the pitch only to come straight back in)WestYorksRoyal wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 10:40 Football isn't the only sport struggling to juggle player protection in the case of genuine injuries against the potential to exploit the rules. Just look at the subs debate in cricket. You occasionally get rugby controversy too, particularly if a particularly strong scrum player comes on as an injury sub at a key moment.
If you decide that player safety is the top priority, which you really have to do, then it will inevitably create protocols to be exploited. And how do you police it? Anyone who has stubbed a toe will know it fcuking hurts immediately but the pain subsides quickly; there will always be contact injuries that hurt but can be run off. Do you say anyone who takes treatment time for them is a cheat?

01 Jun 2026 12:19His antics last season were so oxf*rd hard to watch. I actually blame him (whether instructed or not) in the continual slowing down of the already boring game. Then almost like clock-work, at the 20 minute mark, he'd go down holding his hamstring or some other ridiculous faked injury.mumbo-jumbo wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 09:24 Pereira wouldn't be happy with this - he's unashamedly demonstrated this all season. 01 Jun 2026 12:46Speaking of annoying things at games, wish 106 would stop the dumbfuck screaming every time the opposition gets a corner on that end.katweslowski wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 12:19His antics last season were so oxf*rd hard to watch. 01 Jun 2026 13:34Fine for an outfield player, but are you really going to ask a team to keep playing without a GK?Za Vas wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 13:20 I’ve never understood why the physios cant enter the pitch like they do in rugby. Just get them to crack on and, if the physio considers it worthy of stopping the game, fine, stop the game, but the player down must be subbed off (or, if all subs have been used, just leave the pitch).

01 Jun 2026 13:47Yes and maybe a minimum stay of say 5 minutes off the pitch unless a sub is made?Extended-Phenotype wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 10:35 It’s lower down my list of problems with the game tbh. Higher would be defenders feigning head injuries when under attacking pressure.
If you go down with a head injury, you should go off.

01 Jun 2026 13:51Apologies, should have been clearer/quote replied. My comment was more in reference to the general chat around feigning injury rather than the specific issue of goalkeepers tactically going down during breaks of play.WestYorksRoyal wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 13:34Fine for an outfield player, but are you really going to ask a team to keep playing without a GK?Za Vas wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 13:20 I’ve never understood why the physios cant enter the pitch like they do in rugby. 01 Jun 2026 14:41It infuriates me to the point of me just dreading opposition corners. I hate it with a passion and it's so pathetic yet some seem to find it hilarious.

The worst example was one of the final games of last season where I think we were 1-0 down and they started doing it when the other team had a corner. The ref fell for it. So basically, just wasting our own time when we need a goal on stupid antics.

01 Jun 2026 21:46The Gunter special of defenders falling down under minimal or no contact is an ever bigger problem. The refs just give the free kick every time, even though it's an obvious dive/exaggeration that an attacker would get booked for.Extended-Phenotype wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 10:35 It’s lower down my list of problems with the game tbh. 02 Jun 2026 01:56Him and very many others, We were by no means the only team to indulge in this and we certainly weren't the first. So whilst I don't like the practice, I don't feel particularly guilty when we do it.mumbo-jumbo wrote: ↑01 Jun 2026 09:24 Pereira wouldn't be happy with this - he's unashamedly demonstrated this all season. 02 Jun 2026 08:21Pickford did it in the first half of one of the England games this season and Lee Dixon said in commentary "looks like Pickford has a big problem here," and I immediately said out loud, "no he doesn't"RoyalBlue wrote: ↑02 Jun 2026 01:56Him and very many others, We were by no means the only team to indulge in this and we certainly weren't the first. I still maintain the only way to stop this happening pretty much completely is to force the keeper who is 'injured' to be subbed for at least five minutes unless the injury was the consequence of a yellow/red card foul.
