Season tickets: what do you plan to buy?

by Clyde1998 » 26 May 2026 18:25

Just as a poll, rather than anything to takeaway from the main thread: https://www.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=192958

Just trying to keep things ticking over on the main board during the summer. 8)

I don't think we've had a poll on HNA? as to what season ticket/subscription people are planning on going for, so I thought I'd create one.

Nothing is forever. Things will turn around at some point. Mrs Baldy and I will be renewing this week.

Doesn't seem to be much interest in the subscriptions on here...

Nearly a decade of nothingness causes apathy

Apathy is a good word to use as that's how I feel really. Lackluster and just unexcited.

The issue for me - and it will be of no surprise of in anyway, unique - is that so many times last season and other seasons in recent years, I have been thinking "oh ffs... it's football tomorrow" or gone to the ground and just sat there thinking how big a borefest it was and then gone home annoyed that I spent about 4 hours* on that garbage

* The time is because it naturally dictates what you can and can't do before the game

Which is correct - the Americans seem to forget that Brits like simplicity and clarity and are not bothered by status.

Overly complicated nonsense introduced at exactly the wrong time.

Nothing to do with the state of the team for me, I was always going to renew.
But the subscriptions didn't really offer anything worthwhile for me, so just a standard season ticket as I've always done.

Reflection of professional football in general. Monetisation and increasing gulf between the divisions is destroying what made English football what it was. Added to which the over exposure on TV, contempt shown towards domestic cup competitions and the fact the top clubs play money spinning preseason games abroad all adds to a diminishing appeal.

Renewed this morning over the phone. Just took the season ticket option and avoided all of the peripheral guff.

Do I get anything for picking the standard subscription option vs the normal season ticket? 100 emails from the club and I still have no idea how this thing works. Probably why I haven't renewed yet.

The 'core' subscription gives you get a bumper sticker in addition to the normal season ticket as far as I can tell.

You also have an auto-renewal (so the club gets money if/when you forget to cancel instead of allowing people to actively consider their spending every twelve months).

Renewed today with a Core Subscription, don't understand peoples issue with the whole subscription model. Apart from the loyalty points issues it's harmless & everything is done on subscription nowadays!

I now have any extra £330 in my bank as I can pay for it over a year at zero interest. Not sure how this can be seen as a bad thing!

Don't think I want to bother with the subscription version with the benefit being a bumper sticker for a car I don't own and entry to competitions I won't win, all for the benefit of saving 4p on my ST.

I personally prefer to pay things off as a lump sum. I get benefits from cashback credit card, but also just prefer that the expense is dealt with upfront. I even pay council tax annually, home insurance, life insurance, and a few other things.

Fair enough but not sure many have that kind of disposable income. The majority of my bills are paid on monthly DDs,
So rather than saving money every month to pay for the next years season ticket it's all sorted already. Plus I get a bumper sticker!

Getting rid of Richardson is the only thing that might persuade me.
Unfortunately a bumper sticker just won’t cut it

What’s the issue with the loyalty points?

The only thing I've seen is you don't seem to get points for match tickets if you don't have a season ticket or subscription to One Royal.

So basically oxf*rd you if you just want to buy the occasional match ticket.
