I did say when we signed him that it was a bad move but Noel apparently wanted him as (very expensive) an old head in the dressing room.
For the minutes played and the wages paid he must rank as one of the worst signings in our history, particularly in the times that we have played at this level.

Nice bloke and all that but just too old and hopefully lessons have been learned especially with the club's dire injury record.

I didn't think he was that bad, albeit in hindsight, not remotely worth it for the minutes played.

We all know you have some inside info fella, don’t know why you need to be constantly patted on the back. FWIW myself and I suspect most on here do take anything you put seriously enough. Quite funny when you get something wildly wrong though

I think with Ritchie he never got properly fit. I said he’d be a decent sign if fully fit - lack of proper game time for one reason or another meant he never looked capable of playing 90m game after game. At that age i suspect you need to have that full high level match fitness to be really useful

I know in twitter you said he was on £9000 per week. Is that true? If so that’s 2 good league 1 players wages freed up.

My apologies; I can see how me replying to you directly sounded like I was aiming at you; I wasn't. It was just a generalisation to the board as a whole.

And i agree, I'm a cocky pcunt, so when I get things wrong I can quite imagine it stirs a laugh. I live and die by the sword in that regard.

And his first job will be to find Bournemouth a new manager, perhaps he might recommend someone he previously worked with :?

Ah, I quite liked Ritchie. Didn't have the legs for more than a half of football but he had a football brain and frequently changed the game for the better when he came off the bench.

That wage is bananas, though.

What’s the average L1 wages these days? £9k pw doesn’t seem anywhere near enough for two average L1 players, let alone good ones. I saw stuff last summer (including the Peterborough owner) saying that decent L1 strikers were going for well over £10k pw and midfielders around £10k. If that’s anywhere near true, £9k is nowhere near enough for two good players.

League One Average Salary

The average League One salary for 2025/26 is £4,100 per week or around £215,000 per annum. This figure is drawn from 640 recorded player salaries, which is around 26 or 27 players per club.

It’s estimated that all of the top 50 highest-paid players in League One are getting at least £436,000 each year or £8,400 per week. Clubs with many entries in this section include Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, and Luton Town.

Our ITK (thanks brogue) very recently posted the players wage bill on twitter from last season or atleast before January. By the loans leaving and Ritchie leaving we have cleared nearly 30k per week of salary off of the wages. This is more than enough in the free transfer market to get the 5 or 6 players needed.

Other than maybe a striker I think this will be the player we will be forking out for this window as there are not many great free options.

For the record Marriott and Savages wages combined were less than Ritchie.

Pereira and Kelvin also less combined.

I think we would probably get Doyle back and another winger or full back for the money.

Good that he's moving on, as it frees up a space in the squad and some wages. Hopefully he had some positive impact on our younger players whilst he was here.

I'm sceptical about the reported wages of our players. Even if they are accurate, they don't take into account bonuses. Footballer contracts tend to be heavily incentivised (appearance fees; competition bonuses; etc.).

Given he was still under contract for another year, aren't the Club due any compensation from Bournemouth....?

Or is that why he retired so he was able to leave on a free?
