Or is that why he retired so he was able to leave on a free?
He would agree to resign as a player with Reading before taking up a non playing role elsewhere. He wouldn’t be able to play for anyone else for as long as his contracted term existed at Reading. It would stop players from ‘retiring” at one club before then turning up as a player at another club and saying they changed their mind.

Terrible signing by us. Took up far too much space in the wage budget while delivering next to nothing, apart from some needless yellow cards in concert with pointing and shouting.

Tbf he had six assists and was the only wide player last season who could deliver a decent ball into the box.

We need to replace him with a winger who can deliver a good cross into the box. Or we are hoping that Kyerewaa adds a final delivery to the headless chicken act, or Lane is going to finally show that final ball that Portsmouth fans said he had when he signed.

Anyone know to what extent we covered the full wages of loan players last season - particularly for players like MOM and Doyle who would have been on pretty high wages?

Seems an odd take to me. As I said on another thread, while his wages raised an eyebrow I thought he generally had a positive impact when he came on.

i think he started off pretty shit, but got better as the season progressed and was real threat with his decent delivery into the box towards the back end of the season. He should, however, definitely go down as a terrible signing. Just simply on the minutes Vs cost ratio

Yep, not convinced he was ever going to be value for money and aside from a few decent crosses didn't really deliver that much. But, by jove, it was nice to have a player on the pitch with a voice, organising and cajoling everyone around him. Definitely need someone who can do that next season, as we're otherwise a very quiet team.

Ultimately, with all the investment in his wages we are left with nothing. It would have been a better strategy to utilise part of the budget allocated to him and his agent to keep Wareham, or take Ballard. Both of whom would have given future returns on and off the pitch.
