Time to bring this back - not the overly complicated method but a simple countdown of wins, factoring in any draws we pick up along the way.

With the 22nd placed team already averaging more than a point per game clearly the benchmark for survival is higher and 53 points is what i am setting.

With 26 games to go....

I think the magic number is actualy 64, based off Wigan in 20th.

But it's a bit convoluted to calculate with the teams at the bottom having played different amounts of games.

Exactly. And with the topsy turvy way results have been gong so far this season, I would expect the table and points range to be far more compressed than usual. I'll feel more comfortable setting and achieving a target of 55.

It's actually precise and meaningful unlike an arbitrary win number and you can still tick it down even when losing or drawing often.

Happy to keep it updated, even though it's way early, if peops fancy.

Agreed. The magic number gives you a precise figure and it takes into account the results of other teams.
