Yep seen a comment that ground sharing has cost them a fortune over the years.

Which is weird because they entered a tournament called TST which you have to pay astronomy amounts for :|

Fine but I really don't understand (prob as I'm getting old) why this is such a story - I mean non-league clubs literally request relegation almost every season due to budget or squad constraints and it never gets mentioned outside of non-league focused forums.

Is it such a story ? I saw it and posted it as general information. Certainly not many clubs each season request that route so i suppose when it does happen it’s newsworthy.
On another note Newbury FC have been granted permission for floodlights to be installed. Maybe next a 3g pitch.

Well the first I saw of it was a social media post linked to the Daily Mail article about it.

Truro as good as relegated from the NL after only 1 season, have 6 games left and are 12 points adrift of safety so realistically will need to win them all to have a chance of survival.

https://www.isthmian.co.uk/articles/tag ... on-request
....their own 'release' has been posted on the Isthmian League website.
(that's if you can battle thru the banners and ads and survive all that garish green & yellow panelling?) :?

....there have been rumours of poor investment choices -in commercial terms, reportedly 'a kit fiasco'?

Their stellar progress on the field, has also slowed rather, a natural result of rising fast up the pyramid.
Wins are now harder to come by perhaps leading to a drop-off in appeal/views among their on-line fans?

Also some 'left-field' observations that it might herald a merger with Redbridge.

Being as they are (in league terms) from "round that side" of Lahnden, I confess I know v.little about them.
- certainly a prevailing NLM view of all things Hashtag can be pretty negative
(and this is a very common one regularly shown towards any such 'new-fangled' -highly ambitious, web-spawned entities, employing business models, podcasting and on-line streaming.)
Large swathes of the NL hopping/'anorak' community hold very 'traditionalist/reactionary' (?) beliefs and tend to baulk against such 'upstart' behavior....
.... tho # are 10 years old now. Having got up to STEP03 in that time they must have been getting most things right, until now? 8)

Someone posted the (semi-serious) observation that their demise was inevitable once they decided not to issue paper programmes!

.... another more 'balanced' contribution, to the rapidly growing thread about this on NLM : points out that now they are competing at the much higher level they aspired to, they are being seriously out-gunned in budget terms.

There are some VERY big spenders in Isthmian Prem currently, some with outlay on wages probably tenfold that of # - ('ricay, Folkestone, Chatham even Ramsgit) A few others certainly have potential ££££s clout far higher than their current business model.

So maybe a good time for a recovery & re-design - they were, in all probability, likely to go back down this term - which is their 3rd at this STEP.

Hanworth Villa v Ascot United - 'Yellamen' visit 2nd placed Villa who won 3-1 at bottom and almost certainly relegated Fareham.
- Ascot sit in the bottom 4 - 2 pts behind Littlehampton and 4 behind Binfield.
- going down with Fareham (& most probably Horndean) - are 2 from that 3 or Met Pol above Ascot
- though 13th to 16th (RPV, HW, Bedfont Sp & Hendon) are far from safe yet.
- some 'rumblings' have commenced that Harrow Borough may well fold at the end of the season, which could lead to a reprieve but they are often applied 'STEP' wide on PPG

Harrow Borough v Binfield - 'Moles' eked out another point in a stalemate with Westfield on Tue night at Stubbs
- and plenty of these kind of offers about this w/e:

Fri 27th 19:45 Milton United v Edgware & Kingsbury @ Wallingford
Abingdon United v Harefield United
Ardley United v Broadfields United
British Airways v Wallingford & Crowmarsh -@ North Greenford - 'Wally' make a quick return to NGU to face the 'lodgers'.
- I was at Berkeley Fields on Tue evening to see them play the 'landords'
- hadn't been here for about 10 years, back during in their half-doz. years hanging on at STEP04.
- the weather turned very squally and wet late on. Was a decent tussle with a fair result in the end finished 1-1.
W&C stay in the final PO spot after the MW fixtures but only have 4 to play and those just below in (6th to 8th) all have 3 or more in hand on them

North Leigh v Wokingham Town
Reading City
v Amersham Town - 2 wins in midweek for Cityzens - 1-0 at Nor Lye then 2-1 over Ardley
- puts them in with an outside chance of a PO spot if they can maintain that form: W 6 in the last 8
- Amersham currently in free-fall [last 10: D2 L8 F4 A 22]

Virginia Water v Kidlington
Windsor & Eton v Ashford Town (Middx) - W&E still chasing the top spot, move 4th after a win at Kidlington
- have games in hand (6) on leaders (Burnham) but that many fixtures (10) in the final month could be their undoing
- CCL POs due to start 25th April
- along with W&E, visitors Ashford T. (currently 2nd) are one of the form teams in the table, along with NGU & Reading City
- those two are just outside the PO spots with games in hand too - both playing catch-up due to the prolonged wet weather and fitting fixtures around groundshares.
- NGU have 7 of their last 8 fixtures at home. Their 'lodgers' (British Airways) have 10 games left: 8 at Berkeley Fields unless the league intervene and make them switch - play elsewhere?
- City have 9 league fixtures remaining - 8 at Rivermoor : Woodley have only 5 left in Div 1 - 3 of these at 'home'.

CCL-PS

Alton v Redhill
Camberley Town v Chipstead

Colliers Wood United v PFC Victoria London
Hillingdon Borough v Woodley United
Molesey v Sport London e Benfica
Oxhey Jets v Westside
Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) v London Samurai Rovers
Wembley v Sandhurst Town - good win for 'Fizzers' midweek 2-1 at CWU vs lodgers Westside - still in the bottom 3
- CCL1 finally stretching out a bit at the top
- P&TGn walloped Brook House 7-1 on their own patch and overtook long-time leaders Bedfont - these two are 9 pts clear of 3rd.
- BH have rather imploded of late, shipping goals (21 in the last 4) in some very heavy defeats, which has now seen them tail off to 4th having also led the table in Feb//Mar.
- PFC Victoria are 4th - they won on Thursday having lost 2 of the previous 3.
Woodley currently hang on in 5th but have lost 4 in 6 - albeit the other two were big home wins 7-0 & 6-0.
- games are running out now but the 3 below Woodley (Wembley,Berks Co & LSR) will be hoping for further slip-ups
- Easter Monday sees Woodley at Berks Co (Ascot)

HELL-P
Highworth Town v Fairford Town
Roman Glass St George v Royal Wootton Bassett Town
HELL-1
Malmesbury Victoria v Carterton

SEC-1
SE Dons v Chessington & Hook United
- bit of a mis-match this week, in the little publicised 'Southern Combination Challenge Cup',
- Q-F tie saw CCL-PS Champions Cobham put a round dozen [TWELVE] past lowly Chess 'n Hook - not sure of relative strengths of the line-ups but one chappy from the 'Hammers' notched NINE in the game.
- Reading City regularly enter this - I've not looked to see how they've progressed.
- is an oddly-cobbled together competition - going quite a while & drifts along in the back ground, with a flurry of rounds in March April May - often with a late raft of walk-overs.
I think it's open to clubs in and around the southern Home Counties: CCL, SECL, SCFL, WESSEX and maybe even SSM? - though they have a few sub-league cups themselves
- might have a looksie in due course - to see whose left in.

SSM-P
Harlow Town v Aylesbury Vale Dynamos
Potton United v Risborough Rangers

WESS-P
Andover New Street v Portland United
Christchurch v Petersfield Town
WESS-1
AFC Aldermaston v Whitchurch United

Burghfield v AFC Winkfield (BURGHFIELD COMMON REC)
Maidenhead Town v Wargrave (BURNHAM FOOTBALL CLUB)
Woodcote v Westwood Wanderers (WOODCOTE REC)

Bumper round-up before the 'double-headers' across the coming Easter W/E
- Preview(s) for that to follow later in the week, when a lot of ups/downs/ins/outs :? will be clearer around many of our featured leagues:

Sat 28th March
FA Trophy- Semi Finals
Southport 1-3 Southend United – att 5,600 - 'Sarfend' return to Wembley following PO Final defeat last season
- may yet be there twice in May should they progress again in the POs?

FA Vase - Semi Finals 1st Leg
Cockfosters 1-1 Punjab United – att 597
Hallen 0-3 AFC Stoneham – att 431

Sutton United 1-2 Rochdale
Truro City 0-0 Boreham Wood
York City 1-0 Woking – att 6,790 - ‘ Cards beaten by a 2nd half pen but reportedly were hanging on for most of the game
- no change at the top with ‘dale still 3 points above the ‘Minstermen’
- Carlisle are 11 pts further back with 22 pts separating PO spots 3rd to 7th
- Hartlepool and Halifax in touch 8th/9th

NAT-N
AFC Telford United 2-2 Bedford Town
Oxford City 3-2 Kidderminster Harriers – att 1,140
- bit of daylight at the bottom for ‘City’ now – win provides a 7 pt cushion
though any upturn in form from Hereford, who still have 3/4 games in hand on those immediately above them, could see them or Bedford Town, dragged back into the bottom 4
- Leamington confirmed relegated : Peterboro Sports and Alfreton below ‘Bulls’ look in serious bother now

NAT-S
Chesham United 1-0 Tonbridge Angels - ‘Generals’ 4 pts off the POs, visit relegation threatened Enfield T in midweek then travel to PO contenders Hemel
Dorking Wanderers 2-1 Hemel Hempstead Town – att 2,354 – Wanderers stay 6 pts clear at the top from Worthing both have 5 games left
Worthing play on Good Friday at home to doomed Eastbourne B. whist DW go to Horsham
- the two meet at Meadowbank on Easter Monday – so the title may well be settled there

Ebbsfleet United 2-1 Slough Town – ‘Rebels’ let a lead slip in the last 15’ at PO chasing ‘fleet
Farnborough 2-2 Hornchurch - ‘Stickers’ contributes with a goal this week – ‘boro climb 6 pts clear of danger
Maidenhead United 1-2 Weston-Super-Mare – ‘att 1,684 – ‘Magpies’ beaten by close rivals W-s-M and slip behind them out of the PO slots to 8th
- they are in action again on Tue H v Bath who are deep inside the bottom 4

IL1-SC
Bedfont Sports 0-1 Westfield
Fareham Town 1-3 Hayes & Yeading United
Hanworth Villa 1-1 Ascot United – ‘Yellamen’ still in the bottom 4 a point behind Littlehampton – nonetheless an impressive point at 2nd placed Villa
Harrow Borough 1-0 Binfield
Hartley Wintney 0-1 Kingstonian
Horndean 2-3 Egham Town
Leatherhead 2-3 AFC Portchester – leaders beaten by PO chasing Portch but are still 11 pts clear with a game in hand
Southall 3-1 Littlehampton Town

SLP-C
AFC Sudbury 1-2 Alvechurch
Harborough Town 2-2 Bury Town
Leiston 1-0 Banbury United
Real Bedford 2-1 Halesowen Town
Royston Town 1-2 Redditch United
Stamford 1-0 Bishop's Stortford
Stourbridge 4-3 St Ives Town
Worcester City 1-0 Needham Market
SLP-S
Basingstoke Town 3-3 Taunton Town – att 562 – a game of 4 pens : 2 apiece scored
– 2nd bottom Taunton save a point with their 2nd spot-kick in the 89’
- ‘stoke stay 4 pts above the drop line

Farnham Town 1-0 Chertsey Town - att 1,443
Poole Town 0-0 Bracknell Town - att 768
Tiverton Town 2-0 Hungerford Town - ‘Crusaders’ beaten by doomed ‘Tivvy’ and stay 3rd bottom, 2 pts behind Yate
Uxbridge 3-3 Wimborne Town
Walton & Hersham 3-1 Dorchester Town - ‘Swans’ 18 pts clear – will be crowned Champions, if they win at Taunton on Friday - or if Farnham drop points at Wimborne
- Gloucester in 2nd only have 5 games left so cannot catch-up
- Poole and Sholing sit 4th/5th with Chertsey and Berko still in the hunt should either of these slip up.

Yate Town 2-0 Hanwell Town
SL1-C
Beaconsfield Town 0-2 Leverstock Green
Biggleswade {SEVEN}7-2 Marlow – ‘Blues’ reduced to 10 men on 38’ – were 0-3 down
Flackwell Heath 1-0 Hitchin Town –att 316 - decent result for ‘Heathens’ over 2nd placed ‘Canaries’
Rayners Lane 1-10 {TEN} Aylesbury United – att 76 – ‘Ducks’ seven up by the break – something seriously amiss at RL !
– reportedly (from NLM) an eye-witness claimed they had no subs visible on the bench the & interim (?) manager sat in the dugout gawping at his phone throughout the game??
- another example where the money has run out perhaps?
- Sat 25th April could be a bit of a wake at Creasey Park – assuming Lane can make it that far
– it is AFC Dunstable’s last game before they merge / get absorbed by Dunstable Town currently a STEP below in the S.Mids.
- both clubs already relegated anyway
– a commemorative programme has been mooted – and probably ought to be ‘black-edged’ going by the respective form & state of the two sides in opposition??

Thame United 1-1 Ware
SL1-S
Frome Town 2-0 Didcot Town –att 608 - ‘Diddy’ beaten at league leaders
Swindon Supermarine 1-2 Hartpury
Winchester City 6-1 Tavistock – att 401 - big win for ‘Winch’ over relegated Tavistock
– Frome likely title winners - one more win would secure a quick return to STEP03.
- POs will probably line up as: Malvern, Portishead, Winch and Bps Cleeve – though Shaftesbury and Hartpury are in range should there be any faltering in the last half-doz or so matches.
- Malvern and Portishead are currently the form teams over the last 10 (behind Frome 9W 1D) – but 'Winch' are racking up plenty of goals & Cleeve have games in hand

CCL-PN
Fri 27th Milton United 5-3 Edgware & Kingsbury
Abingdon United 1-0 Harefield United
Ardley United 2-2 Broadfields United
British Airways 2-1 Wallingford & Crowmarsh

– beat ‘Magpies’ with an 84’ winner from Ceesay - host Milton on Tue

Virginia Water 0-0 Kidlington
Windsor & Eton 0-2 Ashford Town (Middx) – att 565 – win puts ‘Ashtrees’ top above Burnham - both goals in the 1st half
– W&E host 3rd placed Broadfields on Tue: on the same night, Ashford go to NGU who were in the PO mix until recently
– NGU are still only 4 pts behind Windsor / Wallingford (4th/5th) and like Windsor have plenty of games to play (8)

CCL-PS

Alton 2-1 Redhill
Camberley Town 0-0 Chipstead
Eversley & California 2-1 Horley Town
Fleet Town 3-0 Corinthian-Casuals

- 2nd are T&M who only have one game left (H v Thatcham)
- Tadley have 3 at home (Chipstead, Camberley and a return tie with SCR ) and finish their regular season at E&E (Chessington & H) on Tue 14th April

York Road for me tonight( bus and train). They play Bath City and it’s a must win game for Maidenhead if they want to keep in the play-off race.

Maidenhead 3 Bath 0 - comfortable for the home team. Bath never in the match and were poor throughout.

Seemed to have it all worked and flying under Wilkinson, then he left for Weymouth and since then it’s been an unmitigated disaster trail of managers coming and going for whatever reasons. Meanwhile, in the background, you keep hearing rumblings of ‘the plan’ but nothing ever seems to progress and on the pitch things are starting to slide again (unsurprising given the managerial problems). They work so hard to set things up and then it all starts going bristols up before any of the promise gets delivered on.

Since Sep 2024 they’ve had 6 managers; Jordan Ive, Jon Underwood, Bobby Wilkinson (again), Jordan Ive (again), Matthew Saunders & Carl Davies so they’re lasting about 3 months each - looking forward to the next appointment in the summer.

 Nice one! Wonder if RC will have the nerve to try that out next year.

Relief that consistency might yet be attained under Carl then and can return to proper football stuff and hope they stop losing players now.

At least they are now safely ensconced in the middle of the table after a dodgy period.

- slightly farcical as the the lights didn't come on when required - suspect the Caretaker was away on his Hols and no-one had checked where the switch was? :? ?
- was a 19:00 KO so pretty gloomy in overcast conditions by half-past. Were some concerns that an abandonement was likely until someone found the means..... the lights all came on at about 20:10, allowing a resumption.
- Wargrave players and fans, not at all happy about it - 1st half ended prematurely & extended half-time whilst they sorted it out
- Ref ended up playing 40' halves.

Slough Town Cup Final
10:00 Britwell v Old Windsor @ Arbour Park Slough [Adults £8.00 Conc. £5]
- suspect the KO is slightly earlier than usual for this, as they need to 'clear the decks' for the 'big derby' at 15:00 ?

British Airways have today pulled the plug on the team using their name for the 2026/7 season.
With few matches being played next Tuesday i am going to watch them play against Ashford Town( Middx). The match is at North Greenfords Berkeley Fields ground- somewhere i have not been before.

Is it actually a British Airways team or just the name?
