British Airways have today pulled the plug on the team using their name for the 2026/7 season.
With few matches being played next Tuesday i am going to watch them play against Ashford Town( Middx). The match is at North Greenfords Berkeley Fields ground- somewhere i have not been before.
Is it actually a British Airways team or just the name?
It was i believe until BA pulled away at the end of the 23/24 season. They do have a BA sports club( for employees ?) and i think were part of that.
No ground of their own and have only just started using Berkeley fields.( drew 1-1 at home ! to their landlords North Greenford FC last night with a 90+ 9 equaliser).
FOC i’m sure will know more.

Nope - know v.little about BA - other than they used to play at Bedfont FC
- venue probably more in keeping with their 'origins' than N.Greenford?

They beat Berks Co in a Promotion PO there on pens a couple of seasons ago - tho' both were promoted
....and unlike the 'Swords' hung on to their Premier (North) status for this season.
Admitted to the CCL in 18/19 out of the Middx County League - and around that time were 'lodging' at Ashford Town.

Round up NL results for today Good Friday 3rd April

NAT
Aldershot Town 2-2 Sutton United
Boreham Wood 5-1 Wealdstone – bit of a ‘drop-off’ from ‘stones 7-0 romp over Hartlepool midweek
Forest Green Rovers 4-0 Brackley Town – looking increasingly grim for ‘Saints’ may well ne NAT-N bound before long – 5 pts adrift of Eastleigh with only 4 to play
Woking 3-3 Eastleigh
– Truro officially relegated this PM with 1-0 defeat at Yeovil – att 4,020
- leaders ‘dale stunned 2-4 at home to relegation threatened Morecambe
– York takeover top-spot on GD with a 1-0 win at Boston

NAT-N
Bedford Town 3-1 Leamington
Merthyr Town 1-1 Oxford City – City now 6 pts clear of drop and crucially 8 above Hereford who lost again and are squandering their games in hand
NAT-S
Hampton & Richmond Borough 3-1 Farnborough - these two just above the drop-zone
Hemel Hempstead Town 0-3 Chesham United - ‘Generals’ now only 1 pts behind ‘Magpies’ and last PO spot
- ‘Tudors’ not at all happy that they appear to be certs for NAT-N next season, unless they get promoted

Horsham 3-0 Dorking Wanderers
Slough Town 2-2 Maidenhead United - ‘Rebels’ snatch a point at Arbour Pk on 98’ – ‘Magpies’ had been 2-0 up by the hour mark

SLP-C
Banbury United 1-2 Royston Town – att 606 – ‘Puritans’ suffer defeat against relegation certs
Bishop's Stortford 1-1 Stratford Town
Bury Town 1-1 Worcester City
Kettering Town 2-1 Real Bedford
Needham Market 1-0 Bromsgrove Sporting
Quorn 1-0 AFC Sudbury
Redditch United 4-1 Leiston
Spalding United 3-1 Stourbridge
St Ives Town 1-2 Harborough Town
SLP-S
Bracknell Town 1-2 Weymouth
Chertsey Town 2-2 Yate Town
- was at this – Alwyns Lane is real throwback - hidden away amongst the narrow terrace streets.
– rickety main stand not out of place in a house of horrors funfair.
- ‘Curfews‘ were the better side but blew their chance to press for a PO spot with dropped points here
- leaders W&H surprise defeat at Taunton meant the point wasn’t much help to Yate in avoiding the drop either

Gosport Borough 1-2 Uxbridge
Hanwell Town 1-2 Gloucester City
Hungerford Town 0-2 Havant & Waterlooville – ‘Crusaders’ in serious bother at the bottom
Plymouth Parkway 3-0 Basingstoke Town
Taunton Town 3-0 Walton & Hersham
Wimborne Town 0-1 Farnham Town – W&H title win on hold temporarily Town are 17 behind with 6 to play
SL1-C
Aylesbury United 2-3 Barton Rovers
Biggleswade Town 2-1 Beaconsfield Town
Marlow 4-0 AFC Dunstable
Northwood 0-3 Thame United
Ware 3-0 Flackwell Heath
SL1-S
Didcot Town 1-0 Brixham AFC
Westbury United 1-0 Swindon Supermarine
Willand Rovers 0-1 Winchester City

CCL-PN
North Leigh 0-0 Milton United

TVPL-P
Maidenhead Town 2-1 AFC Winkfield [/color]

Slough Town Cup Final @ Arbour Park Slough Town FC
Britwell 0-1 Old Windsor

– as is customary for me, got here too for my first of a double
– tight game settled very late on with a deflected shot over Britwell keeper.
Brtwell ‘lost it a bit’ at that point and saw 2 Red Cards
- decent crowd for a 10:00 KO too – poss. Close to 500
- OW 4th win in 5 years

NL Results: Easter Saturday 4th April

FA Vase S-F 2nd Legs
AFC Stoneham 3-1 v Hallen - 6-1 agg
Punjab Utd 0-2 Cockfosters - 1-3 agg

IL1-SC
AFC Portchester 4-0 Bedfont Sports
Ascot United 5-0 Fareham Town – att 173 - 'Yellamen' escape the bottom four moving above 'Moles' on GD
- go to Hartley W on Monday

Binfield 1-2 Southall – att 204 - 'Moles' face a trip to Bedfont Sports on Easter Mon. who are only 2 pts above them
Egham Town 0-0 Hanworth Villa
Hayes & Yeading United 0-1 Moneyfields
Kingstonian 1-2 Horndean
Metropolitan Police 2-2 Hartley Wintney
Westfield 3-1 Raynes Park Vale
- Leatherhead win 2-0 at Littlehampton and are Champions
- 4 PO spots more or less sealed now: barring miracles should be:
Westfield, Moneyfields, Hanworth Villa & AFC Portchester - only a 6pt spread so these could all switch positions over the last 4 games.

CCL-PN
Ashford Town (Middx) 4-1 Edgware & Kingsbury - top beat bottom and E&K are relegated (probably)
Broadfields United 3-1 Amersham Town
Burnham 2-0 Holyport
Kidlington 3-3 Harefield United
North Greenford United 3-3 Abingdon United
Reading City 2-1 British Airways - 'Cityzens' still 5th and like W&E have games in hand to a secure PO spot
Virginia Water 0-6 Windsor & Eton – att 166 - W&E have 7 games left and if their form continues they may well press the top two
- they are 8 pts behind Ashford who only have 3 to play - as do Burnham 2 pts behind them in 2nd.
- Tomorrow W&E visit mid-table Wokingham while City are at lowly Amersham. Broadfields in 3rd only have 2 left

Wokingham Town 0-1 Ardley United
CCL-PS
Balham 0-3 Badshot Lea
Camberley Town 2-1 Corinthian-Casuals
Fleet Town 1-0 Abbey Rangers – att 476
Horley Town 2-0 Alton
Redhill 1-1 Eversley & California
Tadley Calleva 2-1 Chipstead
Thatcham Town 2-0 Sutton Common Rovers - 'Kingfishers' now safe from the drop
CCL-1
FC Deportivo Galicia 3-2 Molesey
Hillingdon Borough 2-3 Sandhurst Town – rare and much needed away win for the ‘Fizzers’
London Samurai Rovers 2-3 Holmer Green
Oxhey Jets 2-3 Bedfont
Rising Ballers Kensington 0-2 Colliers Wood United
Spartans Youth 0-2 Penn & Tylers Green - Penn have 4 games left need 4 pts for the title - only Bedfont in 2nd can catch them and they only have 2 left
- 11 point gap back to PFC in 3rd

Spelthorne Sports 1-2 Langley
Sport London e Benfica 0-1 Staines & Lammas (Middlesex)
Wembley 0-1 Brook House
- will try and give an update of PO prospects & relegation candidates, after the Monday results - when things ought to be a little clearer?

HELL-P
Mangotsfield United 2-2 Royal Wootton Bassett Town
Westfields 2-1 Highworth Town
HELL-1
Chipping Sodbury Town 2-3 Carterton
Thame United Reserves 1-0 FC Stratford – rock bottom beat league leaders :? – wouldn’t necessarily infer anything untoward but United’s 'firsts' didn’t have a game this PM, so could conceivably have been a stronger 2nd string put out for this game?
- not that the Reserves can get out of the bottom 3 anyway, so may well drop down if sufficient sides are applying to come up from the County feeder leagues?

Wantage Town 4-3 Shortwood United – att 223 - ‘Freds’ stay 2nd but are 5 pts behind Stratford with only 3 left to play – 3rd placed Bewdley lost at home to Newent

SEC-1
Bridon Ropes 0-5 SE Dons
Chessington & Hook United 3-3 Lydd Town

SSM-P
Aylesbury Vale Dynamos 3-2 Winslow United – att 215
Risborough Rangers 3-2 Tring Athletic – RR stay 3rd with only 2 to play

TVPL Cup competition
Rotherfield United 1-4 Wargrave
Woodcote 0-3 Newbury Town

- delved into the WILTS Premier for a 'new tick' at:
Down Ampney 2-1 Wroughton
- small village up north of Sw!nedon off the A419 nr Ciren.
Cosy little social club but the pitch is a bit basic and open to the elements

Checked today and they've now lost 6 games and arent even top anymore :shock: :shock: :shock:

A point to note about Dons

They lost 2-1 to Rochester a few weeks ago and then next game let a 96th min goal in to draw

Hoping that 2 points doesn't kill them off

Dons 0-0 Rochester

Afc Greenwich won so the gap is 1 point with a game in hand for them, which is also against Rochester away :o

This one is going down to the wire, I have a bad feeling that 96th minute goal the dons let in has messed them up

I really dont see any way out of this for Brackley. All those years getting so close then finally getting up laat season. Halfway through I thought they'll be fine. The new manager bounce has been a new manager plummet! What a shame

...certainly not :shock: - that's a very famous hardcore professional 'Anorak'
- I think there are a few others with similar such accolades - looking at their on-line NLM sig/avatar/profile descriptions etc too
- so a bit of self-trumpeting there - no real harm in that I s'pose.

That fellah is very well known in 'hopping circles' and far wider - is a pretty accomplished sports journalist & radio broadcaster - and has published quite a few books - his 'home' NL club I believe is Virginia Water - but he's famously a rabid 'Fakies' fan too.
For some reason he is not all that popular amongst the wider 'hopping' fraternity probably because he's viewed to be seen as flagrantly 'self-aggrandising' :? :roll:

I'm strictly part-time/intermediary by comparison - in 'hopping' terms ...besides these days I rarely venture north of Watford - well Brum maybe - for a 'tick'.

Some chaps over on NLM think nothing of flying out to the wilds of some East European country and travelling miles by local transport just to see the local equivalent of Tilehurst El Patrons Reserves at a patch of earth up in the mountains of Kossovo or such-like !! :? :lol:

...went there, the week before last for the 'landlords' v Wallingford - nice clubhouse, not sure about food - if that's a factor - prog is on-line and they sell badges. Hope it's drier for you that when I went!
Car Park cramped and dark and the roadworks on the approach under the railway are pretty grim - v.slow to get through.

One NL historical memorabilia 'oddity' to note, if you ARE driving and it's safe to do so: - just as you approach the turn-off onto the Greenford Rd, look left in the hedgerows for a huge sign and an entrance to London Tigers old ground (Avenue Park) - formerly belonged to Viking Greenford and for a short spell Bedfont Sports.
The playing surface was infamous - downright dangerous and should have been condemned.
I got there once during Tigers brief tenure in the SSML before they relocated back to Kingsbury - a year or so later it was subject to some serious industrial-level fly-tipping - dumped containers and contaminated waste/fuel spill etc and the clubhouse was damaged by arson. Is all blocked off now behind concrete barriers.

Even that very same ‘London Tigers’ sign board has since been vandalised/graffitied

...was still (just) legible when I drove past last month - and it does stand out a bit - is white and orange. :lol:
Before that sign was put up, the ground entrance to Avenue Park was notoriously difficult to find - as it was directly off a very rapid section of the A40
- I missed it completely the first time I tried to visit and drove round for ages trying to find the way in from the park behind it - there wasn't one! :?
- I gave up and went to Hanwell .... AND the game I was trying to get to had been switched to another venue that AM anyhow!!!

Some wag of course described the arson attack at the time as "doing £10k worth of improvements!" :twisted:
It was seriously a bit of a dump already and no-one wanted it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
here's an exhaustive summary of yesterday's games (well I'm exhausted having written all of this drivel! :P )
NL Round-up
Easter Mon 6th April
NAT
Brackley Town 1-1 Boston United
Braintree Town 0-0 Woking
Eastleigh 2-1 Yeovil Town
Hartlepool United 0-0 Rochdale
Solihull Moors 4-1 Boreham Wood
Sutton United 0-3 Southend United
Truro City 1-1 Forest Green Rovers
Wealdstone 3-0 Aldershot Town
York City 2-1 Altrincham
- York 2 pts clear of ‘dale at the top with three to play – the two meet on Sat 25th – could be some showdown
- at the bottom with just 3 to play - Brackley are 7 pts adrift of Eastleigh and the Sh!ts (latter have a game in hand)
– Morecambe are a point behind them – with Braintree and Truro down
- probably won’t matter as ‘Saints’ have 2 difficult away trips (Scunny & Carlisle) either side of their trip to the Rec on the 18th
NAT-N
King's Lynn Town 0-1 Bedford Town
Oxford City 2-0 Peterborough Sports - City 5 pts clear of the drop , tho’ Hereford still have 6 to play and Alfreton (like City) 4.
- Peterboro Sports and Leamington relegated so far.
Going up are probably AFC Fylde, who’ve gone past S.Shields recently and have a 6 pt lead.
- currently POs feature Kiddy, Macclesfield, Scarborough, Darlo,& Merthyr
- Chester, Spennymoor & Buxton may ‘crash’ the eliminator rounds and Marine have plenty in hand to have a say
NAT-S
Chesham United 4-1 Slough Town – Slough safe from the drop - just – Chesham are in 8th and just outside the exended POs (4th to 7th to decide who plays 2nd/3rd)
Chippenham Town 2-0 AFC Totton
Dorking Wanderers 1-2 Worthing – att 3,246 – visitors snatch a win and top spot having trailed just before the hour mark. Both sides have 3 games left
Farnborough 2-0 Horsham
Maidenhead United 2-1 Hampton & Richmond Borough – ‘Magpies’ stay 6th
- Worthing now ahead of DW on GD – there is only a 4 point spread from 3rd placed Torquay down to W-s-M in 10th
– so a few more twists yet here in the title race and the PO slots are just as uncertain, with Chelmsford in 11th in range of an eliminator spot too
- Farnboro’s win kept them a fairly safe distance ahead of Chipp’num who also won
- Enfield Town and Eastbourne Boro relegated– Bath almost gone have 4 games to play and are 10 pts behind ‘boro.
IL1-SC
Bedfont Sports 1-2 Binfield
Fareham Town 1-1 Bognor Regis Town
Hanworth Villa 0-2 Westfield – att 329 -huge win for ‘Wests’ over PO rivals Villa
Leatherhead 1-1 Metropolitan Police – att 879
Moneyfields 4-0 Littlehampton Town
Raynes Park Vale 2-1 Kingstonian
Southall 2-1 Hayes & Yeading United -att 174
- ‘Tanners’ already Champs - POs settled - just ‘jockeying' for final positions and home advantage – currently in order Westfield, Moneyfields, Hanworth V. and AFC Portchester
Fareham relegated & Horndean 12 pts adrift - with 4 left and a terminally poor GD - mathematically confirmed tonight if they don’t win at HW
- barring demotions (one mooted within the division :Harrow B) and eligible reprievals due to movements elsewhere - based on PPG:
possibly up to 2 more but more than likely one (or none) :| from :
Met Pol & Littlehampton: same number of games remain (3) are only a few points behind Ascot, Bedfont Sports and Binfield
SLP-C
AFC Sudbury 1-3 Needham Market
Harborough Town 5-1 Banbury United – att 1,052 - Town have 3 left need 3 pts for the title
Leiston 1-3 Bury Town
Real Bedford 4-0 Bishop's Stortford
Royston Town 0-2 St Ives Town
– POs also a bit fluid here due to bunching near the top – currently Spalding in 2nd assuming they can’t haul in Harborough – then Real Bedford, Halesowen & Redditch Utd
- still in touch for 5th spot Kettering, Quorn, Needham Mkt & Worcester City
SLP-S
Basingstoke Town 1-0 Sholing
Berkhamsted 4-1 Hungerford Town
Farnham Town 1-3 Bracknell Town – att 1,205 – ‘Robins’ goals all in a 15’ spell 2nd half
Gloucester City 0-2 Taunton Town
Poole Town 1-2 Wimborne Town – att 1,851
Tiverton Town 2-3 Plymouth Parkway
Uxbridge 2-0 Hanwell Town
Walton & Hersham 1-2 Chertsey Town – att 1,746 – important win for ‘Curfews’ at the Champions, as they chase a PO spot
Weymouth 0-0 Dorchester Town – att 2,945
Yate Town 3-0 Evesham United
POs spots currently Farnham & Gloucester - probably both with home berths (3rd/4th) to host Poole or Berko, with Sholing and Chertsey hovering
SL1-C
Beaconsfield Town 4-4 Northwood
Flackwell Heath 2-3 Marlow – att 483 – both sides look to finish a disappointing campaign in lower mid-table
Thame United 0-2 Aylesbury United – att 338 – surprise defeat for PO chasing Thame
- the ‘Red Kites’ are still 3 pts ahead of Hertford in the final PO spot (5th) but have a troublesome run-in
- ‘Ducks’ win here secures their safety for next season
- Rayners Lane and the dissolving AFC Dunstable are down, along with Northwood
- Enfield likely to join them, 3 games left 9 pts adrift and 20 goals worse off than London Lions above them.
- Lions will almost certainly consign Enfield to a relegation spot at rock bottom AFC Dunstable (11 pts and GD -110) on Thu evening
SL1-S
Swindon Supermarine 0-0 Didcot Town
Winchester City 2-2 Bashley – City in 4th are probably securely in the POs – Shaftesbury have 4 to play and are 7 pts behind – the two meet next Saturday (11th) at the Cockrams
- Champions are Frome by some distance
- PO spots: Malvern Portishead Winch and Bps Cleeve
CCL-PN
Kidlington 1-1 Wallingford & Crowmarsh
Milton United
1-2 Harefield United
North Greenford United 1-3 Virginia Water
Windsor & Eton
1-1 Wokingham Town – att 434
- nothing decided here yet – Ashford T. top the pile by 2 from Burnham, both with 3 to play
- tonight ‘Tangerines’ are at BA (NGU): then visit Milton & Wokingham
-‘Blues’ travel to relegated E&K: finish with games at N.Leigh and Harefield
- Broadfields in 3rd only have 2 left
- 4th placed Windsor & E seem to have 6 left (only 5 showing on FWP – looking on FullTime thay may have to fit in an extra game at Hilltop – Edgware?)
- all of their games are away after next Sat 11th visit from Milton. They are only 5 pts behind Burnham
- Reading City are a point further back with 4 to play – host Wokingham this Wed night
- 6th to 8th are NGU Wallingford and Ardley – who may yet feature
- going down (probably) with E&K are one from Nor Lye, Holyport or Amersham
- only a 2 pts spread – the Oxfordshire side have 5 to play all of them look tough
- the other two each have 2 left and meet on the 18th at Spratley’s
CCL-PS
Fleet Town 2-2 Cobham att 402 – Fleet level with 2 in the last 10’
Redhill 0-6 Knaphill
Tadley Calleva
2-1 Camberley Town
Tooting & Mitcham United 3-2 Thatcham Town
- ‘Hammers’ Champions by some distance –think the PO line up is fixed:
Tadley v Horley
T&M v Fleet
Guildford relegated barring reprieves - one drop-spot to fill : from E&E, E&C or currently in 2nd last Cambo – they finish at Alton next Sat, Eversley home to Redhill
‘Salts’ have three games left, unsurprisingly all at home (Chess ‘n ‘ook's Chalky Lane) vs Alton, Fleet and Tadley – but would not expect too much of a return from those?
CCL-1
Berks County 6-2 Woodley United - att 117 - ‘Swords’ complete their campaign and currently sit 4th but Brook House Wembley or even Woodley, still have games in hand to overhaul them
Chalfont St Peter 0-1 Wembley
Langley 2-4 Westside - @ Slough
Molesey 0-0 Spartans Youth
Penn & Tylers Green 3-0 Spelthorne Sports - Penn need 2 pts from 3 games to secure the title from Bedfont, who only have 2 left
– P&TG would be Champs, if they fail to win at PFC on Wed
Rising Ballers Kensington 1-1 Sandhurst Town – ‘Fizzers’ have one game left H v RBK on the 13th - and sit only one point outside the bottom three
- Spelthorne and Spartans Youth just below them have 3 & 2 games to play respectively – that’s assuming three may go down
RBK will finish last – Chalfont 2nd last are 5 pts adrift with only 2 left
HELL-P
Corsham Town 1-0 Fairford Town att 110
Hallen 0-1 Cirencester Town
Royal Wootton Bassett Town 2-4 Highworth Town – att 190
HELL-1
Carterton 1-1 Wantage Town - att 100
Clanfield 85 1-0 Thame United Reserves
WESS-1
AFC Aldermaston 0-1 Kintbury Rangers - att 100
- plenty still to play for in this division – some clubs have 6/7/8 games remaining – so very little is settled yet.
Cove, Yateley and Whitchurch still in the mix for honours
TVPL-P
Reading YMCA 1-1 Burghfield
- nothing settled here either - some clubs have 10 games left
Phew :D
BA 0 Ashford 2 - the league leaders much the better team scoring 2 headers direct from corners in the 1st half. Nice bottle of Doom Bar and a Cheeseburger went down well.Everyone at the club was very friendly.
Couple of interesting results in the Division tonight.
Ardley 8 Hilltop 0
Edgeware & Kingsbury 1 Burnham 1- very surprising that the already relegated home side held 2nd in the table Burnham- all these leaves Ashford 4 points clear at the top with 2 to play. Windsor & Eton the only realistic challengers who are 10 points behind but have 4 matches in hand.
....was @ Rivermoor tonight - not sure of the attendance yet - maybe a tad less than the game between the two at Lowther Rd last Oct when just over 200 saw a 1-1.
Difficult to headcount or estimate as the lights there are so godawful - something they will really need to address if they do go up......
....City fluffed badly & 'Sumas' took their chances well. Brought a decent following with them too.
On that showing they might be a good outside bet for next season.
Play @ leaders Ashford T this Sat.
Some doubt if City will feature in the POs now but they have come from quite a way back over last month or so and were 2nd in the form table before this - so maybe just a one-off
Looks as if they might get pipped to 5th spot by NGU or Ardley
Perhaps their stamina is failing - they definitely looked 'leggy' in possession. Have had 7 games in March and this was their 3rd game in 5 days already this month.
Have a Cup game at Abbey Rgrs (Addlestone) on Sat , then a real crunch game in the PO picture next Tue night, as Windsor & Eton come to Scours. :?
If I can get myself off the sofa tomorrow (Thu) - might be back for my 3rd successive night along Scours La - may 'treat' myself to another R&D Sunday League catch-up game down behind the Atrium : Tilehurst EP v Southcote Colts :mrgreen:
There's even a Cup S-F (Berks Trophy Centre) being staged (at Rivermoor) on Fri evening :
Tadley Res v Bramley. (Ko 19:45)
Final @ the SCL in May ..... vs Westwood or Wargrave - that S-F is on 24/04 also @ Rivermoor
I saw this guy interviewed on tv. He's something of a zealot, to say the least! He has collected programmes and tickets from all the games he's been to and his house is chock full of it. Cupboard after cupboard crammed full of the stuff. He plans to leave it all to a football charity after he's gone
