Obviously if we continue to under perform, generally away attendances will probably wane, but it probably won't deter the chavs as it's their big day out and an excuse to get pissed/drugged up or whatever.South Coast Royal wrote:If Yfeko was the player targeted he should have been applauded as without his dreadful error we would probably have lost the game.
Unfortunately when the performances are as dull as ours have been the story becomes about something else such as chanting or the referee being blamed or my personal favourite of "but for individual errors" which so often covers the fact that a player is no good.
I wonder if the away support will start to wane having been increased by fans going to new grounds this and last season especially if we carry on giving poor performances and not winning games-the notorious chavs might then start looking at other things to do on a Saturday afternoon.
I would guess for many people it's just a generic insult these days completely disassociated with the Thalidamide scandal and those affected by it, in a similar way to spaz draws it's roots from spastic and cerebal palsy, but also just any sort of spastic movement, and to some no longer has anything to do with the condition.oldebiscuit wrote:Ironic statement. Good odds as the ref was pointing at the away fans and there has been anti Starmer and pro Robinson chants in here.
Not given as an excuse for the use of the term but I suspect it's generally only people of a certain age who will know the background of Thalidomide. Other idiots are using the term without even knowing what it originates from.Half Horse wrote:As we are all aware it's an abbreviation to describe those poor people who were born without limbs after their mothers were given Thalidomide for morning sickness during pregnancy. Bit like calling people Mongs, really.oldebiscuit wrote:Ironic statement. I was just to the left of the goal and i didn’t hear any chanting around the incident time- before that Jayden Wareham and his Dad got plenty of stick which he seemed to enjoy giving back after he scoredRG30 wrote:Having stood on the terrace bit towards where the away fans were seated, it definitely didn't come from that side so guessing it was down the left nearest the police control room. Not sure what was said but couldn't hear any chants so until the referee releases his report it's difficult to judge.
