The problem with Selles Out is that nobody will want to touch us with a barge pole, even Paul Ince would think twice about coming back.

The manager in my opinion needs to realise that playing away from home may require different tactics, If we can at least start getting draws that'll be progress.

I don't know if that is necessarily true. It would be a good job for a manager who is looking to get back into the game after a bit of time out or a younger manager from League 2 or National League, very little pressure on them if things go tits up with Selles.

The idea that they might not get paid isn't a bit of a downer, then ?

Depends on your existing levels of income and how close a potential takeover is for us. If you take someone like Neil Warnock for example he would be comfortable enough to hang on until a takeover happened and take back pay.

Could he be learning that 4-2-2-2 isn't always the way to go. In his presser today said that whilst it will be his main formation, they have 5-3-2 as a secondary system and whilst there hasn't be the need to use it pre-Blackpool, that game has shown it should or could be utilised going forward, even from the beginning of matches.

Starting 5-3-2 and switching to 4-2-2-2 mid-game could be pretty effective.

I've been a professional writer since 1992 but magazines still try it on.

A major airline wanted one of my stories "Ballistics" for their in flight magazine

and offered £00.00

I checked their ad rates. At the time they were £10,000 per page

But what about the EXPOSURE?

Sure, it would have been nice, but not even a token offer
of £50 or £100? (I'd already won £300 or so..)


NOPE.


So I chose "less exposure"

I have won a total of 19 competitions, countless placings,
all paying nicely, thank-you, and just in the Bridport Prize alone
twice second, twice fourth I have picked up £2,100.

I've had a bursary of £14,500 from Arts Council of Wales


Been published in the UK, Ireland, Australia, US, China, always paying,
was short-listed for an International Award for best first novel, and have
probably published (for money) around 500 pieces, the majority paying after
the early days.

I've sold year-long Film/TV rights 3-4-5 times.

Jeez, in my best year writing I didn't earn a quarter of what I earned in 1988
(I was in the Clapham Crash December 1988 and dropped out decided to
follow my dream. I should have been dead so figured do what you WANT to do).

But it is NOT about quality. Luck plays a part, connections are massive,
dumbing down to go mass-market, get TV or a film, etc.


If you played music you must know stories of ordinary bands getting deals when
the good/great ones didn't.

Outside the hyped, over-advertised top few (writers) (and it really is a few Brits)
there is very little money sloshing around, and it's WORSE now than in the 1990's-2000's
because Amazon, Tesco pricing etc absolute devastates royalties.

TBF isn't that way it should be? Bowen is Selles boss, so that should be Selles point of entry into ownership/CEO etc.

I like Selles. He’s been dealt a crap hand but I really admire his honesty and what he’s trying to accomplish. I’m expecting another painful season, but Selles and this young team will have my full support.

I recall Dellor trying to lay into him on BBCRB, but Selles stood his ground with a good firm response and Dellor meekly backed down.

Being famous can be enough, you don't even have to write the books yourself and if you write them for kids you can get away with being crap as long as you add a few cartoons.
