They have a massive catchment area, too. Apart from Barrow, Fleetwood and Morecombe (who were non-league/moribund for ages) their nearest league clubs going south are Blackpool & Preston. They also take in support from Southern Scotland and the A74(M) corridor.Winston Biscuit wrote:learned at the weekend that Carlisle are considered by quite a number of Newcastle fans to be their 2nd club, and they go and watch them when Newcastle are playing away, its one of the reasons why they get some pretty reasonable attendances. There are apparently quite a few historical links between the clubs.
From League 1 last season to bottom of League 2 this season and their average attendance has only dropped by 700. 6th highest average attendance in League 2

Even more depressing when Burnley and Sheffield Utd come straight back down again.Stranded wrote:Leeds on a run of 1 win in 5 at exactly the wrong time though.
Quite depressing though to see Sheffield Utd, who lost 28 of 38 PL games last season looking likely to bounce straight back despite a 2 point penalty - whilst Burnley, who were also incredibly poor last season in the PL proving to be too strong for the division below.
Makes Luton's race to 23rd even more impressive given they were the closest of the 3 to staying up (not very close to be fair).
