Hmm Scarr is a unit but another Paudie, I'd like someone with more pace as that's where we will continually get done with balls in behind
+1 for Scarr. I don’t think we necessarily need speed in defence just a box to box midfielder that will track back and bring it forward. A bit of a bully of chasing lost balls and giving someone for the centre backs to offload the ball to.

Set to sign a short term contract according to Pete O'Rourke.

Well colour me shocked - he was always hanging around as there was a chance he would get a deal and here it apparently is.

Have no issue with him joining but really needs to be experienced option #4 at CB - not our only other defender esp if it is just a deal until January, as seems likely.

Just blocks the pathway for the kids. However I’m told we are still after a ‘proper’ cb this isn’t ‘instead of’

Perhaps the plan is to loan out the kids til Jan so while they are away we have short-term Masterson on the bench

We have Kanu, Beacroft and Duah who are close to ready. If they all go on loan, fair enough as maybe that's better development than 4th choice CB.

That would actually make a lot of sense. Sign our "proper" 3rd CB with Masterson as cover (with potential to sign a deal if he impresses) allowing some of the younger CBs out to play L2 until Jan.

Never expected this to happen in a million years

A t least it’s some useful cover and hopefully Duah and Kanu can now get a loan period out at a decent level somewhere for 6/12 months.

Now just a LB & centre forward needed.

Definitely fits our criteria-injury prone and once player of the season at his former club. :)
I know there are often non-footballing reasons why a player is released but to be released by a League2 side isn't a great recommendation.

Obviously he showed signs of ability as a young player; let's hope he retains that ability.

Short term deal seems low risk

well that is somewhat a relief if it comes to fruition. Any word on the striker options?

Getting anything out of the club at the moment is extremely hard. But I am told we have been in contact with Charlton about Daniel Khan

Well I guess he is the best we could hope for, gets 1 in 8 in league one but is still learning. Was pretty decent in league 2 (1 in every 2.5) so must have some capability. Just needs some specialist coaching, which presumably Coleman & Beattie could provide by the shed load, for a striker.

So that's what they're sticking into the AI!

How many "player of the season at their former club"s do we currently have?

I actually don't hate the Masterson signing. Low risk, and inexpensive. Ainsworth had a mass clear out at the Gills, and he was probably a bit unlucky, and also probably towards the top end of their wage bill. He was good against Charlton, and must have done enough in training to look more instantly 'playable' than the youngsters next inline. Could actually be a shrewd bit of business, with genuine competition available, I think POCs place as a guaranteed starter might not be as certain as it was thought to be.

If you look at mins on the pitch Kanu is a goal every 212 mins and G/A every 177.

CM would be fine as a signing. Experienced back up. Allow Duah and Beacroft to go out on loan. No problem with it on paper
