He’s now got 7 months in clink plus another 7 months out on licence to look forward to, not to mention the year’s ban from driving. Given he’s now 36 it’s a bit of a different way to retire.

MORTON striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been charged in connection with the seizure of around 60 kilos of cannabis at a London airport.

The 33-year-old, of Cardwell Road in Gourock, was detained and questioned by National Crime Agency (NCA) officers after drugs worth an estimated £600,000 were detected in suitcases by Border Force officers on September 2.

He has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear before Carlisle Magistrates later today, accused of importing class B drugs.

On 20 August 2023, Williams was involved in a traffic collision near Handforth. He was subsequently charged with dangerous driving and driving without insurance. On 14 March 2025 Williams pleaded guilty at Chester Crown Court to dangerous driving and driving without third party insurance.

On 3 May 2024, Williams was disqualified from driving after accumulating 30 points on his licence. [almost as many as United this season]

On 23 May 2025, he was sentenced to a 14-month jail term, suspended for two years.
