Brobby? Weird?Winston Biscuit wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 08:15 recency bias counts for a lot when looking at how good a player has been for your club. Not a dig at Utd as everyone does it, but Casemiro is the one that stands out to me the most right now. for much of his time at Man Utd he has apparently been sh*t, lazy, past his best, fat, and a waste of money, but this season he has been good so him leaving in the summer is being treated like a club legend is moving on and everyone is sad about it. Football fandom is weird.
You did see him get sent off at Bournemouth didn't you?BRO_BOT wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 07:49Currently, I'd rather have Maguire in my team than the massively overrated Virgil.South Coast Royal wrote: ↑09 Apr 2026 21:54Yeah sure-great ambition shown by extending Maguire's contract.![]()
ok digs out of the way...
I'd say it's just a practical choice. In an ideal world, you might move him on. However, next Monday we'll have two teenagers playing at CB against Leeds because De Ligt has fooked his back and probably won't be playing again this season, and Martinez has also had a number of injuries.
He's actually played pretty well for a while now. I looked up his numbers, and he tends to be in the top 10% for most of the things you'd want a defender to be doing. Totally overpaid for him, but that's not his fault. We probably got reasonable value for him in the end, £10M a season
I've also seen VVD all season, very poorSouth Coast Royal wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 13:46You did see him get sent off at Bournemouth didn't you?BRO_BOT wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 07:49Currently, I'd rather have Maguire in my team than the massively overrated Virgil.South Coast Royal wrote: ↑09 Apr 2026 21:54

In that game he looked like a very old man playing a young man's game so hopefully Man Utd play him in every game next season when of course he will be even older and slower (if that is possible).
We weren't discussing Virgil.BRO_BOT wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 14:14I've also seen VVD all season, very poorSouth Coast Royal wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 13:46You did see him get sent off at Bournemouth didn't you?BRO_BOT wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 07:49

He's younger than Roy Hodgson.
