And whilst Bayern did get 10, to be fair to Auckland they have competed in the Club World Cup in it's various guises for years - they even managed a 3rd place - winning a QF and then defeating Mexican Club Cruz Arul in the 3rd place play-off.Ascotexgunner wrote:Would love Bayern to put double figures past Auckland.....just to show what a pointless exercise this is.
3-0 in 20 mins.

Not great but not sure what else they were expecting at 3pm on a Monday in a country where football is still not a big sport in the public conciousness. If it had been two big European/South American clubs, then it may have been busier.genome wrote:

Yeh, tbf other than this game the crowds have generally been really good. Fluminese v Dortmund this morning should be another humdinger. Really enjoying this tournament so far despite all the negativity.Stranded wrote:Not great but not sure what else they were expecting at 3pm on a Monday in a country where football is still not a big sport in the public conciousness. I mean, having LAFC play nearly 2,000 miles away can't have helped either, surely they could've played the game a tad closer to Los AngelesPepe the Horseman wrote:Yeh, tbf other than this game the crowds have generally been really good. LA only qualified last week. Leon of Mexico were disqualified as they are owned by the same group who own Pachua, who are also there.Hendo wrote:I mean, having LAFC play nearly 2,000 miles away can't have helped either, surely they could've played the game a tad closer to Los AngelesPepe the Horseman wrote:Yeh, tbf other than this game the crowds have generally been really good. Ah right, that make sense.Stranded wrote:LA only qualified last week. Leon appealed to CAS and the ban was only upheld 3 or 4 weeks back - so LA played Club America to take their place. As a result of winning that LAFC are the only MLS side not playing a home game.
Yep, if we are jaded and can't be arsed watching it, what about the players?Sutekh wrote:Looking forward to the PL benefitting from a knackered Citeh and Cheatsea starting next season.
These players are also not going to stop as there’s a World Cup next summer then no doubt FIFA will dump another CWC into 2027 before the Euros come round and so on…. Football is broken, all the clubs and authorities care about is £$€.Royal Rother wrote:Yep, if we are jaded and can't be arsed watching it, what about the players?Sutekh wrote:Looking forward to the PL benefitting from a knackered Citeh and Cheatsea starting next season.
It ain't rocket science - the players need a break from playing football - if it's a year long grind with only a week or 2 off at any time, they are GOING to get jaded.
The Club World Cup Final is on 13th July.
The PL starts on 16th August, so when will pre-season training start?
When will the tours take place?
Unless they give everyone who is out there now some kind of a break and NOT take them on whatever ridiculous lucrative pre-season tours they have surely lined up, Chelsea and Man City WILL suffer the consequences next season. Both in terms of injuries and brain fatigue.
I suppose that's where squad size helps, but Pep has said he only wants 24 players in his squad or he'll leave - well, he's taken 27 out there!!
Giving Real a game is underselling it. Running them ragged more like. Should be out of sight.Pepe the Horseman wrote:Al Hilal giving Real a game so far. Should be winning 3 or 4-0.
