My thoughts as well, I'd be concerned if he was blocking 1st team opportunities for our youngsters but I'm not convinced any of them are ready so if it allows them to go out on loan, that's probably the ideal scenario.

Kanu too. It would be good if we could get him on loan to League Two until January and reassess how close he is to the first team based on that.

Ainsworth had a mass clear out at the Gills, and he was probably a bit unlucky, and also probably towards the top end of their wage bill. He was good against Charlton, and must have done enough in training to look more instantly 'playable' than the youngsters next inline. Could actually be a shrewd bit of business, with genuine competition available, I think POCs place as a guaranteed starter might not be as certain as it was thought to be.
This 100%, he was well liked by the Gillingham fans and i believe their player of the season before he got injured. Sometimes you need to take a gamble and this guy could be a diamond in the rough and work out well.
He must have something about him for them to keep him on until January.

Did alright in the first half from what I saw. Didn’t get to see whole match.

Looked really rather good, imo. Very confident and positionally smart. I think this could be a clever wee signing.

It's almost as if the coaching staff have had a month to look at him training with us and thought, "you know what? this guy could really do a job in our system, lets give him a go to see if he can maintain it/stay fit" rather than just looking at the club he left and writing him off.

Very impressed last night. Think he'll be challenging for a first team place if he can reproduce performances like that.

Careful, you're sailing awfully close to giving them credit there (not the done thing).

Yeah. I don't get the "well, this isn't a normal way to do business so it must be miserly desperation" mindset. We should be celebrating a bit of creativity in how we bring in players.

Classically called "A Trialist" which we didn't seem to have many of this summer

You would expect him to be ok up against Stevenage's second string striker.
Having said that, he looked ok last night and we have him for at least 4 months as cover.
