I don't think a target striker has to be over 6 foot, just capable of looking after the ball for us when we clear it under pressure.Chaney wrote:Eastwood isn`t over 6ft either, and thats what we urgently need, stuggling to thonk of anyone in the UK, but must be loads overseas who would jump at the chance to play here

No, you're not alone on that one. I've been thinking about McBride for a while now. Perfect short-term replacement for Kitson. His contract is up at the end of the season, though I'd imagine Coleman would be desperate to keep him. Very underrated IMO.papereyes wrote:Another possibility for 6 months would be to look at Brian McBride. But I'm not sure how much he's playing for Fulham. Hard as nails, can hold the ball up and a pretty decent goalscoring record.
OK, might take some persuading that one.
I don't know, theres some permanent sites just over the border in Iver! Quick trip down the M4 and you're at the home of football!Yorkshire Royal wrote:Shouldn't probably say this on here, but Southend have sort of become my second team... Been to see them a half dozen times over the last few yearsand I can categorically state that Freddy Eastwood has the potential to make it in the Premiership. In League 1, to say he was a different class is an understatement. Haven't seen much of them since they were promoted though...
I have also heard that Coppell was at the match on Saturday. I figured he was looking at Eastwood, Sodje and Nugent.. Most Southend fans seem to think Eastwood will be joining either Reading or Villa in the new year. I'm not sure how well a gypsy will settle in the royal county though...
Please no.I wouldn't be surprised to see Carlton Cole join on loan though.
There's more chance of hell freezing over than either player joining our pay roll and that suits me fine.papereyes wrote:We could have had a look at Sutton or Hartson in the close season. Good, aware players that would have fitted the bill.
That's actually a pretty good call...The_Cat wrote:I suggest Heidar Helguson.
As Freddie is a gypsy i'd imagine anywhere is commutable for him.Only one Trevor Morley wrote:
However I have a feeling that Mr Eastwood will be making his way here soon. Reading is commutable, Villa probably isnt..... !
