No, would be Stuart Taylor. AAH was first senior signed to start though yeah.WestYorksRoyal wrote:Was AAH are first senior signing there since Hahnemann?

My bad - I was definitely referring to 1st choice keepers. Over a decade without needing one between Hahnemann and AAH, and a revolving door since then. From Despair To Where? wrote:CountryRoyal wrote:No, would be Stuart Taylor. In fairness, our transfers since the Al-Habsi era have been (er-hem) suspect to say the least. It's not like we have been specifically bad in the goalkeeping department, although it's been more bad than good for me.Hound wrote:Would like to say I trust our scouting but we haven’t really got it right since AAH - and don’t think he was even signed to be first choice
Anyway sounds like the Button deal is now back on
Football Insider reporting the deal is all agreed. Button only signed a new 2 year deal at WBA in May but will be allowed to move to Reading on a free transfer.Stranded wrote:James Earnshaw now reporting that Button deal is "very close" but Pereria is still a live option as well.
Whilst not massively sold on Button - you don't get to play over 350 games in a career if you are shit - appreciate he may now be shit and wasn't in the past, but will give him the benefit of the doubt that playing regularly again, unlike at WBA, will bring out the best in him.
Paul Brooker got 338 and he was bobbins.Stranded wrote:James Earnshaw now reporting that Button deal is "very close" but Pereria is still a live option as well.

Well he wasn't bobbins, no player is at that level but take your point. However, much harder to get to that number of games as a GK when there are less slots available - you have to be of a fairly decent level to get that many. Outfield players can shift around and come off the bench more than a keeper ever will.Snowflake Royal wrote:Paul Brooker got 338 and he was bobbins.Stranded wrote:James Earnshaw now reporting that Button deal is "very close" but Pereria is still a live option as well.

Vickers only has one and he's the G.O.A.T.Snowflake Royal wrote:Paul Brooker got 338 and he was bobbins.Stranded wrote:James Earnshaw now reporting that Button deal is "very close" but Pereria is still a live option as well.

Yet only 2cm taller than Bouzanis - 1.91m to 1.89m and 3cm shorter that Andresson.NathStPaul wrote:What he will do is give us a bit of a presence and command of set pieces you'd hope. Very tall lad.
Still maintain Andresson should have been given the opportunity this season, height being a big reason for it. You're going to get a lot more long ball and direct play in League 1 and having a big presence in goal is relatively important IMO.Stranded wrote:Yet only 2cm taller than Bouzanis - 1.91m to 1.89m and 3cm shorter that Andresson.NathStPaul wrote:What he will do is give us a bit of a presence and command of set pieces you'd hope. Think you might be right thereOrion1871 wrote:Thought Bouzanis was basically a mate of Tom Ince when they were at Liverpool together, so the Inces got him a job with us.
Wasn't that during the time Nick Blackman had turned into prime Pele? Button got some top quality abuse that day.CountryRoyal wrote:Surprised he wants to come after we practically made him cry at one of the Brentford aways.
Yeah he’s not what he was, but neither are we and I’d prefer him to some rando with 7 appearances.
