We were required to get some fee from Mbengue leaving, due to us offering him a contract of an equal or higher amount to what he was on and him being younger than twenty-four. The clubs couldn't agree on a fee, which is why it went to a tribunal.@ramy_abousetta wrote: A point - The £350K compensation fee for Mbengue has not been confirmed by either club.
To say that the fee is less than the 'offer' of £500K last summer and that Reading lost out is just untrue.
The club got a fee and a sell-on fee for a transfer they expected nothing from - also... depending on the sell-on percentage, Reading could make more money than the original offer if Mbengue continues on his upward trajectory and picks up PL or European football.

Think he’s been out of the game since being released by Rotherham a couple of years ago.morganb wrote: ↑02 Apr 2026 20:09 https://x.com/i/status/2039734715809399241

Think Brouge’s said we have a 20% clause.Dirk Gently wrote: ↑03 Apr 2026 14:15 Femi Azeez looking outstanding as he helps Millwall move into the promotion places at Boro.
Anyone know if we have a sell-on clause for him, because I can see him moving to a bigger club even if the 'Wall do go up?
He looked really good. Top player nowDirk Gently wrote: ↑03 Apr 2026 14:15 Femi Azeez looking outstanding as he helps Millwall move into the promotion places at Boro.

Yeah he was very good. Another one who the Twitter mob decided to turn against for some reason.stealthpapes wrote: ↑04 Apr 2026 01:47 Think we under-estimate how good he was 2023-24. Some bangers at key moments.
That was the year of the goal of the season competition between him and Wing wasn't it, where it felt like every other goal was a contender. Plus Kelvin chipping in a few too...Hound wrote: ↑05 Apr 2026 13:20Yeah he was very good. He had a spell where, if he took a touch, it was pretty poor.Hound wrote: ↑05 Apr 2026 13:20Yeah he was very good. He played in the Reading Sunday league for a bit, I can't remember who for unfortunatelySutekh wrote: ↑05 Apr 2026 08:10 Can’t check for sure, as the search facility on here has been unfortunately reduced, but don’t recall seeing it reported on this thread that Ken Price sadly passed away on 28 November 2025 at the age of 71. RIP Ken
Arrived from Gillingham on a free in Jan 1983 and stayed for a couple of seasons seasons before moving onto Basingstoke in June 85. Scored 8 goals in 44(3) apps.
Totally agree Hound. Must have read my mind mate. What a performance from Olise. And as for Harold Kane....the bloke is class, pure class. Was saying to a mate this morning that he doesn't run around much but boy when the ball arrives at his feet, he is something else.
Couhig is probably praying daily that Olise moves on-the sell-on fee could cover our costs for a whole season.
We'd have to receive circa £15m - £20m to cover a whole season. We'd need, like, 10% of the whole fee, rather than a cut Palace's cut of the fee. More likely to be £1m - £3m I thought.... certainly very handy tho.South Coast Royal wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026 10:50Couhig is probably praying daily that Olise moves on-the sell-on fee could cover our costs for a whole season.
Just great to watch and those of us who told fans of other clubs how good he was can feel redeemed.
He glides across the pitch in much the same way as one of my favourite ever players, Luis Figo.
That about sums it up I believe.Clyde1998 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 18:37There's also the chain of sell on fees to consider, which I only found out about from the Price is Football.tidus_mi2 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 09:34Every international transfer during his career, I just used Google AI because I'm lazy but it says 5% of the overall transfer goes to clubs who trained him from his 12th to 23rd birthday, 5% of that 5% from the 12th to 15th birthday and 10% from that 5% for the 16th to 23rd birthday
So from my understanding, he joined us when he was 15 then left when he was 20, I don't know the exact calculations but I worked this out to about £4m on a £200m transfer fee.
If I understand correctly, a player who had a 20% sell on clause when transferring from Club A to Club B and a 20% sell on when transferring from Club B to Club C would still see Club A receive a fee when that player transfers from Club C to Club D (20% of the 20%). This chain only gets broken once a player lets their contract expire or a transfer doesn't include a sell on fee.
It's based on profits, so a £200m fee would be a £150m profit for Bayern. If Palace have a 20% sell on fee, they'd get £30m from Bayern. If we had a 20% sell on fee from his transfer to Palace (IIRC, we did), we'd get £6m from Palace.
Depends on what's specifically written into transfer contracts mind.
