Quarter Finals i believe. Lost to Brighton Under 21s.
Indeed, lost on penalties 3-2.

Previously got to the 3rd round (might have equated to QFs) in 99/00, lost 4-0 at Bristol City. Possibly might have got further still in the 1980s when it was the Sherpa Van Trophy or something.

Nah we tended to get rinsed by 4th Division teams in front of sub 1000 crowds in the 80s. Our last ever competitive game against the Shits was an embarrassing 3-1 loss at the Rec in the Sherpa Van. Martin Hicks scored a beauty of a headed og from the edge of the area and David Leworthy scored an injury time consolidation for us.

We'd beaten them 5-2 at home in the same competition the season before. Trevor Senior scored an absolute beauty and IIRC, Mick Tait also scored from an overhead kick. That's about the only game I remember us winning in the Sherpa Van. I've seen a clip of Senior's goal on YouTube somewhere.

Senior's goal at 9:40 here

Yup, was there at that 5-2, an evening game iirc, ……..one of our last properly competitive games against them……..maybe?

We beat them 3-1 in the league a couple of weeks later then drew 1-1 at the Rec on Easter Monday that season. I remember the North Bank being somewhat overcrowded and the atmosphere being a rather tetchy. The 3-1 defeat at the Rec the following season was our last ever competitive fixture against them. I was at that game and we were dreadful.

BFTG

Bright spots:
Osho looked lively. Moment of the night was probably when he left the Wycombe LB on his arse.
Beacroft good at CB bar a few dodgy moments. Couple of great blocks and looked faster than i remember.
Lane getting in better positions. Drew two good saves that their keeper went a bit Hollywood for. His passing is still a bit iffy and i'm not sure LB/LWB is for him
Fraser looked solid
Penalties

Dim spots:
Brown was utterly anonymous
Williams still isn't a CAM - his long throws could be useful tho
Dorsett is better at LCB, but he's still not very good

Why are they so bright - it’s so off putting here in the stadium
Glad I’m not the only one thinking this.

I could barely concentrate on the game with how bright they were.

Almost like they were trying to illuminate the pitch with them.
Maybe it's because the new lights aren't as bright as they thought

Hope they fix them before the next night game, they started flickering badly at the end of the match.

Regional semis (R4) in 99/00 followed by two regional QFs (R3). Only dimly recall the early 90s games but I think I went to a midweek game when there were three team groups.

At the moment, I am enjoying this cup (trophy). Has been a good chance to see the younger players and that Walsall game a season back was funny AF.

Quite an open, even and entertaining game.
Osho, as with Lisbie on Saturday, had a good first half and it's refreshing to see a winger taking players on.
Ahmed looks as though he is progressing well.

What is it with the left-back area?
Once again we allowed a player to waltz into the box and score.

Maybe I could be accused of being a purist but I would love to see any Reading side as a pass and move team again-Wycombe looked better at it as do most teams that we play.

We certainly look good at penalties-perhaps that is what they they spend most of their time doing in training.

I was there :)
Same here. IIRC we were much the better side, but somehow contrived to draw 0-0. Our penalties were rubbish, had to watch it back to check we actually scored twice. LOL at O'Mahoney giving JP the big one after scoring his.

Found it disappointing that Jacob Brown had zero impact against pretty much a Wycombe reserve side.

Had the same Virgin Red Button issues as others. Guessing it was Jerae Jones from the U21s that came on for Brown?

Thanks but no joy seems to be a Virgin problem with red button games.
It's a faff but I connect laptop to TV, go to Sky Sports website and then login as a Virgin Media customer. Get the occasional freeze/refresh required but generally works OK. Watched last night's game in the US the same way using a VPN.

It used to be a real faff when you have Sky sports through BT/EE as there isn't a red button on Sky Sports+ but the alternative is through Now where you have to search for the home team to find the match (sometimes) as searching for the away team doesn't find the match!

Yeah. Wasn’t that impressed by the signing when it happened, less so after seeing him play.

Hoping he will sharpen up with time, but his track record doesn’t fill me with confidence. Fans at his previous clubs seem to suggest he is more a hard worker, than a prolific scorer (not entirely sure how that fits into our plans).

Can press and fill in well across the front line. If he is 3rd choice CAM, 3rd choice ST and 5th choice winger he becomes a handy option. Don't really trust him as an important team member though.

Didn't watch or lsiten to any of the game, just saw final score.

But I think.... the movement was not good enough, our full backs weren't doign the job, we were toothless in the final third and we chanced it.

Yeah I’m not convinced by him at all. I’m calling him beige from now on.
