Yeah, that's the only time I can ever remember seeing a 'keeper subbed off (other than injury) in what will be 50 years of football watching next month.

I remember seeing an instance when it *should* have happened - when Federici let in three in the first six minutes at home to Man Utd in the FA Cup in 2007 - especially as Marcus was on the bench that day.

Mind you I can also remember Manchester City playing Macclesfield in League One, before the £ood times came back

tbf you put out a weakened team, who weren't very good. You should really have been battered, but fought back and were a crossbar away from equalising

What you've written is irrelevant to Dirk's point - Federici let in three very soft goals in succession very early in the match which on another day he would have saved comfortably. It was like he was over-awed, and yes a harder / harsher manager could conceivably have taken him off at 3-0

Got to be honest, until today I thought Spurs genuinely had enough; they would scrape a lucky win somewhere, get confidence back and pull away with their quality.

Not any more. They're in serious trouble, and I think their relegation rivals are more united, better teams with the more fight in them.

Just looking at the run-ins:
  1. Leeds (1.06ppg): Man Utd (A; 3rd); Wolves (H; 20th); Bournemouth (A; 13th); Burnley (H; 19th); Tottenham (A; 17th); Brighton (H; 10th); West Ham (A; 18th)
  2. Nottm Forest (1.03ppg): Aston Villa (H; 4th); Burnley (H; 19th); Sunderland (A; 11th); Chelsea (A; 6th); Newcastle (H; 12th); Man Utd (A; 3rd); Bournemouth (H; 13th)
  3. Tottenham (0.97ppg): Sunderland (A; 11th); Brighton (H; 10th); Wolves (A; 20th); Aston Villa (A; 4th); Leeds (A; 15th); Chelsea (A; 6th); Everton (H; 8th)
  4. West Ham (0.94ppg): Wolves (A; 20th); Crystal Palace (A; 14th); Everton (H; 8th); Brentford (A; 7th); Arsenal (H; 1st); Newcastle (A; 12th); Leeds (H; 15th)
With their run-in, Leeds are probably going to be fine.

Forest have the 'worst' run-in on paper and are still in Europe, but a lot of the sides they play won't have anything to play for when they face them.

It could come down to whether West Ham can simply get two more points than Tottenham over the final seven matches. They've got the easier run (especially if the Arsenal game is discounted).

West Ham have been decent recently though. They lost to Wolves in December and looked doomed, but they have really picked up. If you're relying on someone to be even worse than you, I don't think they will oblige.

Spurs need to up their own game, as nobody is bad enough to save them by default.

Sunderland away next for Spurs.

Elsewhere, expecting Eddie to be gone in the summer after today’s result.

As much as I would love to see Spurs relegated again (yes, I was around in the seventies), but what’s the point?

Their ‘parachute money’ and other media ‘love-in’ money will (all but) guarantee them one of the treasured promotion places next season…..and round and round we go again

Does anyone think Spurs “aren’t” going down?

I said weeks ago, where are they going to win games? They can’t get anything done at home which you can expect their rivals ( West Ham, Forest & Leeds) to do. And away they may pick up the odd point but not enough.

I’m not convinced about the inevitability of them coming straight back up either. They’re paying Champions League wages to players who all want out anyway. Sure they can afford to attract better than average championship players but they are looking at a massive overhaul. Then you’re looking at the pressure of having to go straight back up which isn’t exactly this organizations strong point.

A few bad results and a half filled stadium isn’t exactly conducive to an instant return.

And I'm not convinced that any of their players have a relegation clause that reduces their wages. I just hope they get relegated. They deserve it because their fans are arrogant twats.

It has been reported by David Ormstein that Spurs’ players DO have relegation clauses in their contracts, some as much as 50%.

Lincoln’s last season in Division 2 (1960-61) saw them playing Leeds & Liverpool so not unknown to them.

next Premier League fixture after the international break is West Ham at home to Wolves on the friday night

Spurs may well be in the relegation zone by the time they play next, which is away to Sunderland a couple of days later

They'll go down, yesterday was a killer I think

Finish 17th, win a European trophy, then get relegated. I think that's peak Spurs.

I still think West Ham will be the team to drop.

This.

Spurs will somehow sneak it.

I put them in the same bucket as Everton, a team who are capable of absolutely shambolic seasons where they should have gone down yet somehow, by luck or judgement just find enough to stay the right side of the line come the end of the final day - sending down a side who are more used to dropping and coming back i.e. West Ham/Forest.

If they do go down, as mentioned, their big earner will have pay cuts (though 50% off a massive wage, is still a fcuking massive wage by Champ standards) and many will be sold for multiple millions which they will then use to sign players still too good for the Champ (or the better players from Champ sides) as they are still Spurs and most players would love to play in that stadium, even if it is home games against Preston & Lincoln rather than Arsenal & Man City. So they'll win it at a canter and probably be back in Europe within 3 years.

This. As it would have been if the likes of Everton had gone down, what would be the point beyond the 🤣

They’ll lose a ton of players but obvs. have no problem in recruiting what works out to be a better team, though that might cause issues for some of the other second tier promotion chasers. Then there’ll be the media 🥰 fest and being live on SKY every week to bore the backside off everyone and deny TV opportunities for other clubs.
