Weird to say after a 4-1 win, but have to say I didn't enjoy that much. Neither keeper had anything to actually do, and I swear Kanu never once stopped a cross (perpetual RFC moan). Hunt has them messing around at the back far too much, a better team could have caused us a lot of problems

That said, some nice close play when we were attacking, with Northampton giving us so much room.

Bindon was absolutely magnificent at the back. Won everything, and Mbengue clearly enjoyed his mega runs.

After the last two awful games, happy with that result

Easy win against a terrible Northampton side, Nolan has a hell of a job there.

Thought we took the piss a bit in the second half and I was disappointed we didn't really put them to the sword to boost the goal difference.

Wing, Knibbs, and Mbengue all outstanding. Bindon a different class, sad we'll br seeing his last few games for us before he moves on next month.

A few random observations:

1. I loved Pereira celebrating us going 3-0 up. Showed a real team spirit.
2. Mbengue is phenomenal. I love him . Did not put a foot wrong today. Got seemingly nasty knocks on at least two occasions, dusted himself off after a minute. Preferred him with the dreadlocks, mind.
3. I do love Smith. I’d hate to play against him.
4. The crowd was reasonable ( over 12 k), but there was no queue for the F1 bus at full time. After other games I’ve had to wait up to half an hour, with the queue snaking back 300 m. The Reading Buses supervisor said it was because there are absolutely no trains today, anywhere. I subsequently confimred this at the station.

It looked very comfortable with Northampton being a desperately poor side. Mbengue and Bindon didn’t break sweat

The win was extremely important in the circumstances though and Northampton were ideal opposition on the day

I caught a bus from Birmingham to Luton Airport, change and then to Cambridge, and then to Peterborough for the game last season.

Spent about 6 hrs travelling.

Yeah, train might have been easier.

Said people were massively overreacting last week as RFC had no luck versus Lincoln. I actually thought we were quite poor today, although took our chances well. Northampton were dire and so it’s hard to read too much into it. Expect Mansfield to be a much tougher test and hopefully RFC will gain some confidence from today. Wins against Mansfield and Cambridge would certainly help to allay relegation fears if we lose our best players in January.

Really important to have got back to winning ways after a couple of poor results (including a worryingly bad performance against Blackpool). Despite being helped by the fact that Northampton were one of the worst teams we’ve faced this season it was a needed confidence boost nonetheless. I have it from an ITK that the players were truly devastated by Selles leaving and I think that came through in Smith’s post match interview on BBCRB. Also this game highlighted how reliant we or on three or four players to carry the team. I am genuinely worried about January with the vultures circling around the likes of Bindon, Knibbs and Wing, though it’s sounding inevitable that at least one or two will go. It’s so sad to think that this is maybe one of the last times we get to see this promising group of young players together thanks to the complete incompetence and indifference of a truly loathsome group of individuals who seem hell bent on destroying the club.
